California is always looking to add more bureaucracy and committees but this is the most absurd one yet.

California is supposedly one step closer to implementing reparations, as they have just moved forward with legislation that will implement a genealogy office to see who will qualify for this.

According to The Post Millennial:

The California Senate Judiciary Committee has approved legislation that would establish a new cabinet-level agency tasked with carrying out the state reparation task force’s recommendations.

The California American Freedman Affairs Agency would be headed by a secretary appointed by the governor, and among other things, create a Genealogy Office to help determine who is eligible to receive as much as $1.2 million to make up for the injustices committed against their ancestors, per Just The News.

The Genealogy Office, it explained, would “support potential reparations claimants by providing access to expert genealogical research to confirm reparations eligibility and expedited assistance with the reparations claims process.”

What exactly would this “expert genealogical research” consist of?

Reparations would be limited to “descendants of a free Black person living in the United States prior to the end of the 19th century.” While the bill initially stated that only “African American descendants of a chattel enslaved person [living in the United States]” would be eligible, the most recently amended version expanded that definition to include all “descendants of an African American chattel enslaved person in the United States,” regardless of the descendants’ racial makeup.

The National African American Reparations Commission claims there nearly 4 percent of white people are descendants of slaves. And because the majority of people who live in California are white, the commission has indicated that “it is entirely possible that white people could claim the bulk of reparations.”

So it may not even end up benefiting the people they pretend it will help.

California officials have been promising for years that they will hand out cash to people who have never been slaves, as they take money from people who have never been slaves. But what is it called when someone is entitled to the fruits of someone else’s labor? Oh, yeah. I am pretty sure that is slavery. Or at the very least it is stealing.

But reparations are likely not coming to the Golden State anytime soon. In 2020, California voters upheld the affirmative action ban. These payments would not only have to be passed by the legislature but also be approved by nearly 67 percent of voters to allow the governor to carve an “exception” in the ban. Not even 30 percent of California voters support this. It is never going to happen and is all just an excuse to virtue signal as officials pretend this is their “starting point.”

California officials will do anything to create more bureaucracy as they get deeper and deeper in the hole, while they add to their abysmal deficit.

California became a state in 1850 and entered the union as a “free state.” So their pathetic excuse to make amends does not even make sense. But nothing progressives do makes sense so whatever.

Again, it is likely that none of this would ever happen, as voters have already made it clear that they won’t be having any of this. But it’s an election year, so progressives must resort to even more lies than usual. Thus, we can only expect the gaslighting to get worse as we inch closer to Nov.
