New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in 2022 that his city has “a brand,” a comment that came to mind for many as a horrific video emerged of a man lassoing a woman with a belt as she walked down a Bronx street and sexually assaulting her.

“We have a brand. New York has a brand and when people see it, it means something,” Adams crowed in 2022. “Kansas doesn’t have a brand.”

While Democrats hold up questionable FBI statistics and try to convince Americans that crime is down — curiously, they take a similar approach to explain to cost-weary voters that inflation is down — troubling stories like this are all too common.

The sick incident took place last Wednesday at 3 a.m. In the footage, a 45-year-old woman is seen walking down a sidewalk when a masked man came up behind her and looped a belt around her neck, according to ABC 7. He proceeded to drag the woman between two cars, rendering the victim unconscious. The woman, who appeared to regain consciousness during the attack, was then raped.

In reporting on the story, the New York Post informed readers that there has been no increase in rapes in the Big Apple.

“As of May 5, a total of 511 rapes had been reported throughout the city, the same total as last year during that period. Rapes are down this year in the Bronx – with 141 reported through May 5, compared to 148 during the same period in 2023, the latest data shows,” the newspaper noted.

The rapist fled the scene and has not been captured. The victim is reportedly cooperating with police. The NYPD released the following photo of the suspect:

A reward of $3,500 is being offered for information, which struck one social media user as a measly offering:
