The Georgia State Election Board reportedly reprimanded Fulton County on Tuesday for scanning over 3,000 ballots twice in 2020.

In addition, the State Election Board ordered an independent election monitor for this year’s election, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The case was brought by Houston County voter Joe Rossi, who’d alleged that the 2020 election was flawed and fraudulent.

“It has now been factually proven that both the hand audit, which is really, really important, and the certified machine count, have both been found to be in violation of Georgia election law,” he said Tuesday. “I’ll close with one word: vindicated.”

However, state election officials disagreed, arguing that, despite some errors, the election was on the up and up and all votes were counted.

“As long as we have the paper ballot, we have the paper trail that accurately reports the voter’s choice,” Charlene McGowan, the general counsel for the secretary of state’s office, said.

“Fulton County used improper procedures during the recount of the presidential contest of 2020. The investigation shows there are some duplicative ballot images in the ballot images that Fulton County provided, but what cannot be confirmed conclusively is if those ballots were included in the count,” she added.

County spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt said the same.

“Fulton County’s performance during the 2020 elections has been exhaustively scrutinized, but the results, confirmed by three different counts, have not changed,” she said. “Nor has there been any evidence of fraud or malfeasance.”

“Since the 2020 election, Fulton County has hired a new director, implemented numerous procedural updates and invested in a new elections headquarters. It has conducted six elections, and independent monitors have noted improvement,” she added.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the board also reportedly chose to dismiss other complaints against Fulton County, including an allegation that the county had improperly added 16,000 votes to its count before certifying the 2020 election, and an allegation that the county is unable to provide digital images for almost 18,000 ballots.

According to the Georgia Recorder, election board member Ed Lindsey Jr. said Tuesday that if officials fail to agree on who to hire as an election monitor, he’ll recommend in July that the board request that the state attorney general take the case.

“My purpose here is not to let it ride but to move this matter forward so that we can have some assurance regarding the 2024 election,” he said.

Critics say all this, especially the discovery of double-scanned ballots, proves why former President Donald Trump was not wrong to question the results of the 2020 presidential election.

As a result, critics say, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has no legitimate case against him. As previously reported, Willis is attempting to prosecute Trump on charges that he interfered with Georgia’s 2020 election when he raised concerns about its election results.

Thus, critics argue, the charges against Trump should be dropped, as well as any charges against his allies.

Also, despite the Georgia State Election Board saying that the 2020 election was still on the up and up, many don’t believe them and are now arguing that Trump won that election.

Critics are also demanding punishment — including prison time — for everyone who allegedly “covered up” the mistakes with the election.
