Michigan is not California, the state does not allow people who have broken federal immigration laws to get a driver’s license or state ID. But the left has encouraged these people to such a great degree, that many of them now feel entitled to rights even though they should not even be here.

Thus, a bunch of illegal immigrants stormed the Michigan State Capital on Wednesday, demanding driver’s licenses.

Half of them don’t even respect this country enough to learn English, as they pathetically scream in Spanglish: “What do we want? Driver’s licenses! When do we want it? Now!”

According to The Post Millennial:

The move comes as bills that would allow those in the state illegally to obtain driver’s licenses make their way through both the state House and Senate.

Collectively known as the Drive SAFE bills, House Bills 4410-4412 and Senate Bills 265-267 have been stuck in the committee stage. If passed, they would remove the current provision requiring proof of citizenship or legal presence to obtain a driver’s license.

In 1995, then-Democratic Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelley ruled that illegal immigrants should have access to the documents. That remained the law of the state until 2007, when his Republican successor, Mike Cox, reversed the decision, arguing that “there can be no doubt that a rational basis exists for denying driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.”

I would tend to agree that there is obviously a “rational basis” to deny “driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.” They literally think that just because they broke federal immigration law they are entitled to rights. And a driver’s license is not even a right, it’s a privilege. As far as I am concerned, breaking federal law is definitely a cause to revoke that privilege.

“To ensure everyone in Michigan has the ability to fully exercise their civil rights, we must allow those who qualify to obtain a driver’s license,” Michigan Civil Rights Commission Chair Portia Roberson said at the time. “Today the Commission spoke unanimously, directing the executive office and the state legislature to find a solution that will allow all those residing and working in Michigan to have the option to obtain a license.”

It’s a bit ironic that these people are demanding an ID in an election year, but that’s nothing more than a coincidence.

This country owes these people nothing and it’s infuriating that they believe they have gifted us with their presence as if they have contributed in the least bit to society. People don’t suddenly become upstanding citizens just because they come from poverty. Michigan does not owe them anything and it’s infuriating that they will probably be afforded the driver’s license.
