Leading Pro-Life Group Praises DeSantis for Combating Extreme Abortion Amendment

Tampa, Fla. – President Joe Biden will speak about abortion today in the latest stop on the Biden-Harris abortion fearmongering tour. The campaign stop follows dual rulings from the Florida Supreme Court that 1) allowed the Heartbeat Protection Act to take effect on May 1, and 2) allowed a proposed constitutional amendment to enshrine all-trimester abortion to appear on the November ballot.

Katie Daniel, SBA Pro-Life America’s state policy director and a resident of the Sunshine State, slammed Biden, saying:

“Far-left Democrats are targeting Florida in a desperate attempt to rally their base and rescue the failed Biden-Harris administration. The one strategy they think will save them in November is to lie and fearmonger about abortion and pro-life laws. This is the time for Floridians to stand up and prove them wrong. We Floridians have compassionate hearts for moms and babies. That’s why over six in 10 voters supported the Heartbeat Protection Act to safeguard 50,000 babies a year from abortion when their hearts are beating, and at the same time we provided a record $25 million in annual funding for pregnancy resource centers that serve both women and children by offering a lifeline to moms in need of support.”

Florida’s pregnancy centers offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, medical exams, counseling, parenting classes, financial classes, and resources such as food, diapers, clothing, and financial assistance for housing and utilities.

SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser praised Governor Ron DeSantis for highlighting the extremism of the abortion amendment:

“Governor DeSantis is right: Prop 4, the abortion lobby’s dream amendment, is extremely misleading. These radical, no-limits abortion amendments are carefully crafted by groups like the ACLU and pushed with millions of dollars from left-wing billionaires. If enacted, Prop 4 would not only overturn popular heartbeat protections and turn Florida back into a destination for painful second and third trimester abortions. Abortion businesses wouldn’t have to get parents’ consent to perform abortions on their teenage daughters. Abortionists wouldn’t even have to be doctors, let alone adhere to commonsense health and safety standards to prevent harm to women. Tanning beds in the state of Florida would be more regulated than abortion facilities.”

Daniel joined her, saying:

“We thank Gov. DeSantis for speaking out. It is crucial that Floridians understand exactly what a sweeping proposal they are being asked to enshrine in our state constitution. We urge every voter to reject Prop 4 and tell Joe Biden our state, our moms and our kids are not for sale.”
