The DEI mind virus has been spreading in the medical bureaucracy like a contagious disease. Subsequently, UC Davis is requiring new breast cancer surgeons to pledge their allegiance to the progressive pursuit of equity.

According to The College Fix:

Applicants for a job as a surgical oncologist must submit a “Statement of Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” to be considered at the University of California Davis.

“Contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion documented in the application file will be used to evaluate applicants,” the job listing for an “academic surgical oncologist/breast surgeon” states.

The job is with UC Davis’ surgery department in its health department.

University policy requires all faculty applicants to “submit a statement about their past, present, and future contributions to promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity in their professional careers.”

The university’s media relations team and the listed hiring contact did not respond to a request for comment sent in the past weeks about the position. The College Fix asked for a rubric for the position and what weight the DEI statement played, compared to surgical experience, in the hiring process.

However, while a DEI statement is mandatory, a “Statement of Teaching” and “Statement of Research” both are listed as optional under the job application instructions.

How exactly does promoting DEI make a better cancer surgeon? What does understanding surgery and disease have anything to do with race? And how does a “commitment” to skin color make someone a better doctor?

If the university is not hiring based on race, but rather a commitment to race, I hope that does not mean prioritizing care based on insignificant things like skin color and sexual preferences. Because “do no harm” would then turn into “do some harm depending on the race” and that is pure evil.

It could also just be a virtue-signaling excuse to pathetically be able to claim that “UC Davis is dedicated to DEI” to get the progressive mob off their back. But that would still be foolish and pathetic and/or racist doctors should have no part in a medical center.

You would think that cancer surgery would be the last place DEI made its appearance, but on the progressive path to ruin, anything is possible.
