Police arrest "serial cop impersonator" who spent TWO DECADES

Just an unsettling reminder that some things — even police officers — aren’t always as they seem:

A serial convicted cop impersonator from Texas was busted after authorities said he tried to pull over undercover deputies while sporting a fake uniform, ballistic vest and an official-looking badge.

Shaun Arnold was driving a white Hyundai Santa Fe equipped with emergency lights and sirens when he attempted to perform the illegal traffic stop during a racing event in west Houston Saturday, according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office

Imagine being a fake cop and doing a traffic stop scam only to discover you pulled over real cops.

That’s gotta sting! Though — and this cannot be stressed enough — this guy probably felt confident with this gambit, given that he’s been doing it since freakin’ 2001:

In 2001, he was convicted of impersonating a police officer in Jefferson County, Texas, reported KHOU11. The following year, he was busted on the same charge in Illinois.

In 2015, he was found guilty of impersonating an officer in Missouri, where his record also includes charges related to stealing cars and other types of theft.

Just lock him up and throw away the key already! The dude is serious about this whole thing. He absolutely dresses the part:

Alarmed by Arnold’s “suspicious behavior,” undercover deputies alerted marked sheriff’s units, which stopped him and found he was “fully equipped to deceive” by having donned a police uniform shirt, a bulletproof vest with his last name stitched on the front, a body camera and a security badge. … [plus] a BB gun, a Taser, police radios and other equipment commonly carried by law enforcement officers in his car.

The suspect was “charged with impersonating a police officer and felon in possession of body armor” and is being held on $15,000 bond.
