Welcome to the sh*thole California,

A total disgrace,

Poop all over the place…

As is the case in many urban areas that have been destroyed by decades of progressive voters reflecting progressive politicians to enact progressive policies, businesses are shutting down in San Francisco. The crime and overall filth on the streets have made it unsafe to stay open. One San Francisco Supervisor has an idea to fix the problem for at least one business. He wants to regulate grocery stores as to whether they are allowed to close or not.

Wait, you thought he would have a plan to fix the city? That’s adorable.

For those of you confused because you think San Francisco is that cute establishing shot used for Full House:

Dean Preston, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, is introducing the “Grocery Protection Act.” The plan is to protect grocery stores… from being allowed to shut down.

Preston’s proposal would require grocery store owners to provide six months written notice to the Board of Supervisors as well as the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD). The store would also be required to post notices at all entries and exits as a means of informing customers and the general public.

Under the legislation, any person affected by a grocery store’s failure to comply with the requirements could initiate legal proceedings for damages, injunctive relief, declaratory relief, or a writ of mandate to remedy the violation.

There are exceptions and caveats. The legislation wouldn’t stop grocery stores from closing if they are unprofitable. But if they are closing because San Francisco’s crime and drug problem make it difficult and UNSAFE to continue doing business, they have to stay open for at least six months. Otherwise, residents can sue them. The same residents who are responsible for the city being in the condition it’s in.

San Francisco grocery store owners should consider themselves lucky. If this were St. Louis or Minneapolis, they’d be accountable for the crime in and around their stores. Preston isn’t going that far. He only wants to make it more difficult for you to leave.

He and the others on the Board of Supervisors also don’t seem to have a plan to deal with the crime happening in and around the stores. But that’s beside the point. Doing something about crime wouldn’t be equity. And it’s not like San Francisco voters would ever do something silly like elect a Republican or even a slightly moderate Democrat.
