Commercial air travel has taken a confidence hit similar to what the cruise lines felt not long ago due to some alarming safety issues. Most recently, a door blew off an Alaska Airlines flight.

While thankfully nobody lost their lives, the event has caught the attention of the public and Congress. What could be the cause of these recent safety lapses?

Could it be a lapse in attention to detail, aging airframes, or an understaffed workforce? Unfortunately, none of those issues are the culprit, but instead, a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the airline industry.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh obtained exclusive footage and information from internal sources that shed light on the DEI virus that has infected our skies.

Definitely uncomfortable

Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh has obtained and published on X internal footage he received of senior officials in the FAA’s Flight Program Operations division from a meeting in April of 2022. The general theme of the meeting is focused on how to diversify the pilot and flight operations workforce.

The diversity they are looking for isn’t diversity of thought, training, or background air flight experience. The diversity is solely based on base demographics like skin color and gender.

In the video, the FAA acting deputy chief operating officer Angela McCullough complains that Flight Operations is “white-male dominated” and says they all need to “get a little uncomfortable” when it comes to changing that dynamic. What Ms. McCullough and others who have made comments about “the establishment,” which is often “white male-dominated,” having to accept being uncomfortable is insinuating that this discomfort comes from a racist or misogynistic place.

The discomfort comes from elevating people who aren’t qualified over those who are just because they aren’t white or they aren’t men.

Free pass

In addition to the internal footage Mr. Walsh received, he also had some sources reach out to him with examples of how DEI has and is still negatively affecting air travel. One source, who is a Delta Airlines pilot, told Mr. Walsh:

“We recently had a transgender pilot repeatedly receive negative reviews during his first-year probationary period from Captains he flew with regarding attitude, CRM, and judgment, yet the Chief Pilot’s Office (CPO) was unwilling to address the issue.”

The pilot goes on to point out the obvious and unfortunate double standard that goes entirely against the concept of treating everyone the same regardless of who they are:

“Had this not been a transgender pilot, the individual would likely not have successfully completed their probationary period.”

The final comment from the pilot brings home the utter unfairness associated with this particular incident:

“Coincidentally, that CPO has a management pilot on staff who recently transitioned who is able to weigh in on these matters.”

Quite the coincidence. The airline industry, along with others, has said goodbye to the “good ole’ boys club” and hello to the “good non-agist gender neutral/fluid club.”

Time to road trip

Mr. Walsh’s revelations continue with still another source reaching out to him explaining:

“…I work in a field where my job is to design military systems for the warfighter…and I have to deal with new-hires pitching me ideas about gender inclusive seatbelts.”

Is it any wonder the Department of Defense is struggling to reach recruitment goals? Additionally, Mr. Walsh got his hands on documentation related to the FAA’s eFAST program, which stands for Electronic Federal Aviation Administration Accelerated and Simplified Tasks.

The program is set aside for the following:

  • small businesses
  • Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Businesses (SEDB)
  • Indian Tribal Owned
  • Alaska Native Corporations (ANC)

Within the Master Order Agreement, any contracts with the FAA that are between $10,000 and $150,000 are “automatically reserved exclusively” for “Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Businesses.” Besides the fact that the dollar amount range is so big you could fly a 737 through it, this kind of DEI acquisition policy is bound to lead to disaster if it hasn’t already.

Stay on solid ground

The DEI rot is starting to creep into the sunlight without Mr. Walsh’s help. Last month, it was discovered that the FAA was actively recruiting individuals with severe mental disabilities.

According to the FAA website:

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruiting and hiring.”

Among the list of targeted disabilities included:

  • severe intellectual disability
  • psychiatric disability

Matt Walsh closes his X thread with the following warning:

“It’s only a matter of time until this combination of incompetence and anti-white discrimination leads to a major air disaster.”

That’s why this former frequent flyer plans to road trip from now on.
