Moderate U.S. House Rep Don Bacon (R-NE) said the resolution was necessary because the White House had rebuffed earlier attempts by the House GOP to get information.
âIf heâs not providing the information because he says thereâs no formal impeachment inquiry, that means we need a formal impeachment inquiry to get the information,â Bacon said about Biden.
Biden released a statement after the vote where he claimed of House Republicans, âThey are choosing to waste time on this baseless political stunt.â

In a post on X, U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) celebrated the vote as she declared, âItâs time to impeach Joe Biden once and for all.â
âThe American people gave us the House to hold him accountable. Letâs get the job done,â Boebert declared.

U.S. House Rep Jamie Raskin (D-MD) took a different approach as he suggested, âThis is an impeachment inquiry where no one has been able to define what criminal or constitutional offense theyâre looking for.â
âThis is more like a what-is-it, not a whodunnit,â Raskin insisted.
