It’s Not Easy Being Green – Is This Huge Energy Company Ditching Their Wind-Power Plan?

Eversource, that woke energy company that just raised our electric rates 110% (more on that here), has been quick to jump into offshore wind projects across the northeastern seaboard. But now they say they might sell some or all of their stake in these projects.
Nolan said the energy utility’s review of its wind investments would conclude by the end of 2022, during an earnings call Thursday.
The review could lead to the sale of all or part of the company’s stake in the Ørsted venture and the proceeds of such a transaction would be invested in the company’s existing energy and water delivery systems, according to Eversource. The company is confident it will receive large offers to scoop up its stake given its lease value, Nolan added.
Vapor ware?
Eversource has a 50% stake in three offshore wind projects which they would sell for large buckets of cash so they could do what? Waste it on other green energy projects.
“We see an opportunity to convert early, strategic investments in the wind industry to reinvest the proceeds in our core distribution, transmission, heating and land-based clean energy businesses – where we’ve identified an estimated $18B of initial investments in our 5-year capital plan – including utility-scale solar, EV charging infrastructure, and technologies to make our infrastructure smarter,” Eversource spokesperson Caroline Pretyman told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an email.
But it’s not exactly a waste. Not for the fat cats at Eversource. There are even larger buckets of federal cash getting handed around to support these other projects. Someone at Eversource is just calculating how to cash in on the opportunity for access to those on the wind side so they can tap into more of it on another.
None of which will produce anything we actually need, especially come winter (discussed recently here).
Meanwhile, in the real world, no one has a plan to produce enough electricity to power all this new infrastructure which – by the way – isn’t possible without coal or oil. You can’t make metal or wire or cables (wind machines or solar sun catchers) out of wind and sunshine no matter how much of it you shine up someone’s ass.
What you can do is pretend there is value, encourage the government to tilt the marketplace in your favor, and then cash in, leaving someone else holding the bill in the dark.

Boom: Florida School Board Races See MASSIVE Red Wave As Major Districts Reject Wokeism

Whatever they are doing in Florida, we could use some of that here. In Yesterday’s elections across the state, voters rejected the destructive leftwing ideology in public education and flipped 13 county schoolboards to conservative majorities.

School boards that @1776ProjectPac flipped seats and won several conservative majorities:
– Bay– Brevard– Clay– Duval– Flager– Hernando– Hillsborough– Martin– Miami-Dade– Okaloosa– Polk– Putnam– Sarasota
Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) August 24, 2022
So who, or what was the wind beneath these wings?
Many of the winning candidates have been endorsed by the 1776 Project PAC, an organization that has been instrumental in flipping school boards from liberal to conservative across the country.
“We saw massive election victories all throughout the state of Florida tonight,” 1776 Project PAC founder Ryan Girdusky told Breitbart News Tuesday. “It shows the desire of parents and residents across the country for some normalcy in our education system, and that means pushing against transgender ideology, critical race theory, critical gender ideology, and equity which destroys merit in education.”
“The 1776 Project PAC hopes to take these successes across the country,” he said.
It’s worth noting that there are 67 counties in the state of Florida, so while this is impressive, it’s only the beginning. It is also imperative that those who show up to flip school boards or board seats show up at meetings to ensure their newly elected board members represent their interests and support them when they do.
The left never sleeps, so neither can we.

Heating Up: The Competition For Biggest Climate Change Clowns Intensifies

First Street Foundation has been releasing cataclysmic climate reports on par with the many failed predictions of the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). I wondered whether UCS had passed the sputtering torch of failed climate cataclysm to a “new player.”
Not entirely. UCS is still mucking about, making predictions doomed to fail. First Street is just another pile of Lefty money adding more noise that Marxists at the Portland Press Herald have gotten fond of sharing.
The First Street Foundation’s sixth National Risk Assessment: Hazardous Heat study said that because of climate change Androscoggin County will have almost two dozen 90-degree days in an average year by 2053 — the most of any county in the state. Kennebec and York counties follow with 21 90-degree days by 2053.
It’s their sixth study, so, not new, but still new enough. The UCS has been getting it wrong for almost 50 years, and we doubt First Street will do any better.
The formula is the same. It’s bad, it’s your fault, but you have to wait thirty years to see if we’re right. Until then, here’s a bunch of government interventions you’ll have to pay for to prevent it. It’ll be expensive, but we promise that a) we’re right and b) with enough of your hard-earned wages and a “small” sacrifice in personal liberties, the government can fix it.
And?
It’s not broken, and even if it were, the government can’t fix anything. Just look at the history of the Democrat party agenda for proof of that. Unless we haggle over the intended meaning of “fix.” Most if not all of the planned “improvements” fix something, just not the thing advertised.
And their record on predictions is abysmal. But you already knew that because you are a regular reader of these pages. From politicians to pundits, pseudo-scientists, to actual scientists on the Cult payroll, we’ve shared dozens of cataclysmic prophecies, none of which has come to pass or whose effects have anything to do with CO2 or warming. And that’s important.

The climate does change. In New England, from day to day. No one denies that. But we are happy to refute the nonsense groups like UCS and First Street peddle for their Marxist paymasters. The cabal of elites that use scary weather predictions to advance socialist economic policy.
This business about Maine is no different. As is the likelihood that these predictions will fail because getting it right isn’t even the point.

Reaching escape velocity is. Rags like the Portsmouth Press Herald are forever seeking eyeball-gathering disaster predictions to make their medium appear relevant. But if you went back 162 years to its beginnings, how many of these headlines and climate predictions that include statements by experts would turn out to be true?
Few to none.

The climate fraud game is as old as time. Leverage fear to centralize command and control infrastructure at great expense. First Street Foundation is just another mule releasing “reports” based on “research” calculated with models that can’t predict much even a few days out, let alone thirty years from now. The earth’s climate system is too complex, and their goal is so much more mundane.
Pump out garbage to scare people into giving up their western lifestyle and use the press to legitimize it.
And we’re happy to point that out.

The ‘Electric Vehicles Will Save The Planet’ Farce Is Unraveling Quickly

An auto club in Germany that claims 21 million members ran some controlled charging test electric vehicles to see how efficient that process was. The results put another nail in the value coffin. Not only are they expensive to buy and own, but the average charge also wastes up to 13% of the electricity.
Put another way, the consumer is charged for all the electricity required to fully charge the battery, which is as much as 13% more than the battery can hold.
So, imagine pouring two gallons of gasoline on the ground every time you filled a 20-gallon tank. People would lose their collective minds. But that will be standard for every charge of every vehicle in the utopian electric fleet of the future.
ADAC’s Ecotest calculated the kWh needed to fully charge a range of electric vehicle batteries.
The result of the test under the same conditions for all electric car models: E-car drivers have to plan for a particularly large amount of power loss for some models – but everyone has to pay extra. According to the ADAC Ecotest, a 100 kWh battery in a Tesla Model X100D actually needs 108.3 kWh. The Kia e-Niro Spirit has 72.3 kWh for a 64 kWh battery. The Jaguar I-PACE EV400 also needs at least 10 kWh more for a 90 kWh battery.
With electricity prices scheduled to double in New Hampshire (as an example) and with the cost of EVs still out of the range of most middle and lower-income families, throwing money out the window with every charge might just as well be another tax.
Line loss or transformer loss is baked into the infrastructure. There is no way to transmit electricity without waste (primarily) in the form of heat. Anywhere from 8-15% or more of the electricity generated by power stations is lost before it gets to you. A carbon footprint problem we’re supposed to ignore.
But not in the ADAC tests. The consumer pays immediately for the loss of every kWh that exceeded the actual electricity needed to charge the battery.

The gasoline you poured on the pavement.
Dark Future
At present, the infrastructure to charge the existing fleet is inadequate. Rolling brownouts and blackouts are predicted everywhere. There is no plan that puts enough wind or solar into operation, maybe ever, to address the growing demand without EVs. There isn’t enough land for the equipment needed to create that much electricity unless the plan is to need less.

With rates skyrocketing, charging will become unaffordable to all but the most well-off, and we’ve postulated repeatedly that this was always the goal. A point they admit, including after the release of the original Green New Deal, whose author (we can’t ever let you forget this) said, “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” Chakrabarti continued. “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”
No air travel for you and the end of private transportation.

The goal is to force your mobility profile back into the 19th century. Trains, horses, walking. The only other reasonable explanation is that they are all idiots, and while the rank-and-file prog parrots might be considered that stupid, the people at the top are not.
They’re evil.

Yikes: English Government Prepares Citizens For Freezing Blackouts This Winter

The United Kingdom was an early adopter of codependent green energy schemes, and this winter could be the first full test of what decline feels like in the Woke energy new world order. “UK Plans for Blackouts in January in Emergency Energy Plan.”
Planners are planning to have blackouts in the winter.
Under the government’s latest “reasonable worst-case scenario,” Britain could face an electricity capacity shortfall totaling about a sixth of peak demand, even after emergency coal plants have been fired up, according to people familiar with the government’s planning. Under that outlook, below-average temperatures and reduced electricity imports from Norway and France could expose four days in January when the UK may need to trigger emergency measures to conserve gas, they said.
The official line is this will not happen, but if it does, you may have no gas or electricity for a bit, here and there, but not often or for long. That’s very reassuring coming from a Western “Democracy.” Just imagine if we’d heard these things from some second or third-world concern facing the carbon reductionists looking to rustle their industrial Jimmies.
Making electricity unaffordable or unobtainable in such a case would be racist. How dare you deny them the comforts they insist are ruining the planet? All while doing their best to make energy so damn expensive that even where they have it people are like WTF!
Other contradictions abound.
The Muppet Greta Chorus rails on the West about its carbon sins while the majority of CO2, pollution, and ocean plastic comes from China, South East Asia, India, and Africa. But no one’s over there telling them to do right by mother earth.
Germany is saying it needs to burn coal or else. Europe, in general, is poised for an unpleasant experience with single-sourced non-green energy as they discover that green can’t replace fossil when it gets cold.

“*” indicates required fields

We’ve got Ambassador Hassan voting to kill off Republican energy tax cuts so she can later pretend they are her idea later when they are guaranteed to fail (hey, I tried, she’ll say). No. You killed it. Own it.
And now the UK says we’ve got it sorted (they don’t rely on Russia for gas, by the way), but just in case, things might get dodgy on the odd day, so be prepared for dark and cold.

And it looks like progressives ruined modernity, but that’ snot entirely correct. They are actually hoarding for themselves. The Queen won’t be looking for a candle to read by, she’ll be good, as will the western elites.
They’re all Ivan Tretiak in the 1997 movie The Saint. While you’re freezing, they’re sitting on billions of gallons of heating oil shouting, save the planet…(whispered) for me!
