Politics may be theater, but voting for a bill that protects Americans from being murdered by foreigners is pretty straightforward.
In a vote on whether or not to advance the Laken Riley Act (which would make it mandatory for law enforcement to detain illegal immigrants charged with theft crimes) to an official vote next week, the bill received overwhelming bipartisan support — with the exception of nine Democrats.
That’s right, there are nine Senate Democrats who opposed holding illegals to the standard set by the law and would instead allow them to be set free, which, in the tragic case of Laken Riley, resulted in her being murdered.
On the bright side, the motion to advance did pass by an 84-9 vote, setting the bill to be passed.
Not a good look, Dems.
