California Governor Gavin Newsom pleaded for President Joe Biden to do something about what he described as “misinformation” about the devastating wildfires that have burned out of control near Los Angeles, destroying thousands of homes.

As the leader of a state now being scrutinized over its DEI hiring practices and failed policies that many believe have contributed to the blazes and inability to get them under control, the ambitious Newsom is being strongly criticized and now he’s calling for the outgoing president to intervene in what seems to be a call to censor and punish social media users.

Video of a Friday afternoon remote meeting with Biden and VP Kamala Harris from the Oval Office has gone viral, raising questions about Newsom’s priorities that some have suggested are more concerned with his own image and political future than the suffering of his state’s residents who have already lost, or stand to lose everything.

“I ask you, we gotta deal with this misinformation, there are hurricane-force winds of mis and disinformation, lies, people who want to divide this country and we’re going to have to address that as well,” Newsom said.

“It breaks my heart as people are suffering and struggling [and] that we’re up against those hurricane forces as well,” Newsom said. “It infects real people that are out there, people I meet with every single day,’ he said, and added, ‘you wonder where this stuff comes from.”

There’s an old Greek proverb that says “A fish rots from the head down” and Newsom is desperate to silence those who are pointing out his incompetence with reports of fire hydrants without water being particularly damaging to the governor, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and their fellow Democrats who have failed in their most basic of duties to constituents by neglecting to ensure public safety.

Newsom’s attempt to bring in the loose cannon Biden, who is capable of anything and has nothing to lose in his final days in office, speaks volumes about his loathsome character, and X users were all over it.

“Disgraced Governor, Gavin Newsom, is more concerned about fighting misinformation, than helping Californians,” wrote Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas). “Misinformation? Part of your state just lost their livelihoods, ‘fact-checkers’ are not gonna fix this problem.”

“Notice how Newsom isn’t asking the White House to protect his constituents from the fires. He’s asking the federal government to protect him from his constituents’ criticism,” conservative commentator Michael Knowles said.

More reactions.

Other than “democracy,” there has been no term in the English language that has been more bastardized by Democrats and their allies than “misinformation” which has been wielded like a weapon against those who dare to point out their lies and false narratives.

It’s been a bad week for Democrats after they lost their battalions of “fact checkers” at Meta who were put out of work when CEO Mark Zuckerberg chose to move to a more honest community notes approach similar to X. And Newsom’s appeal to Biden is that of a desperate man who knows the jig is up if there’s no censorship.
