Asserting a matter of “national security,” one Fox News host excoriated “liberal society” for the California wildfires as he called for an extreme response from the federal government.

“When a state becomes this dangerous and the government becomes this reckless…”

After tens of thousands of acres of land had been incinerated, leaving at least 11 people dead and an ever-increasing number of lives tragically left in ruin, many had seen fit to fault leadership in the once-Golden State that had gaslit their constituents down the primrose path.

Misguided priorities like cutting the fire department’s budget to prioritize the city’s homelessness crisis, had included the California State Assembly convening a special legislative session to focus on President-elect Donald Trump, further fueling Fox News host Jesse Watters’ view that it was time to institute “martial law.”

“Liberal society has gone mad,” said the “Jesse Watters Primetime” host after playing a clip of California State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D) getting grilled over the special session amid the devastation of the wildfires. “People have been institutionalized for less. California has been trying for years to destroy Western civilization. Well, this is what it looks like. They finally did it.”

“Primetime is calling for a federal takeover of California. When a state becomes this dangerous and the government becomes this reckless — where the lives of millions of American citizens are being destroyed, their homes obliterated, their infrastructure annihilated — we can’t wait for a recall election,” he went on. “This is an issue of national security. This is a public health emergency.”

“We know they had public health emergency powers. Remember the pandemic? Invoke ’em. The elected officials in California can’t be trusted,” argued the host. “They’re criminally negligent. Look at what we’re seeing. This is a war scene. And if anyone thinks that people who are responsible for this catastrophe are gonna somehow rebuild, you’re out of your mind. If they’re left in charge to rebuild LA, they’re gonna steal the money. Nothing’s gonna get rebuilt.”

“Everyone’s gonna get screwed,” asserted Watters.

Earlier in his monologue, the commentator had highlighted California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) focusing on concerns of “mis- and disinformation” during a call with President Joe Biden, balking at claims that he held any responsibility for Los Angeles being ill-prepared to confront the emergency as “lies” from “people who want to divide this country.”

“This is what Democrats do,” said the host as tensions between Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) and LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley had also cropped up. “They screw up and then call their critics liars. But this time, that’s hard to do when your whole city is still on fire. Nobody wants to hear politicians whine about misinformation during a crisis.”

As he closed his monologue, Watters brought up the law that empowered the Federal Emergency Management Agency as he contended, “This is biblical-level destruction. And the city of LA is hosting the Olympics in four years. There’s no way we can showcase LA to the world. A full federal takeover is needed. Invoke the Stafford Act. The state’s overwhelmed. Martial law might have to be declared.”
