A suspected arsonist has been arrested near the site of the recently-lit Kenneth fire, and celebrities are weighing in.

The fires in California are burning indiscriminately, affecting everyone from the homeless to the rich and famous who have houses in the hills, and everyone is on edge hoping firefighters can work toward containment. A new fire has been sparked, leading to the arrest of a man believed to be an arsonist.

On Thursday afternoon, law enforcement responded to calls that a man was attempting to start yet another fire behind a van in Woodland Hills. A witness described the suspect as being in his early 20s and primarily speaking Spanish. Citizens detained the man with ropes and zip ties until authorities could arrive and place him in custody.

Renata Grinshpun, who was involved in the detainment, told local news station KTLA 5 that the suspect was carrying some sort of incendiary device.

“He had a propane tank, or a… it was a big yellow tank, like a flame-thrower basically. The neighbor said he saw the guy behind a van, trying to light something on fire,” she said.

The suspect claimed he used the device to “smoke marijuana” because he “couldn’t afford a lighter” according to Grinshpun.

While the investigation into the suspect continues, big names such as Khloe Kardashian and James Woods have weighed in on the arrest.

Woods used the arrest to fire a shot across the bow of those who claim that climate change is to blame for the raging fires consuming the state.

“Oh look, ‘climate change’ has a face!’ he snarked.

Kardashian, whose family has donated upward of 2,500 meals to feed the firefighters battling the blaze, did not pull any punches. She posted about the arrest in her Instagram story along with the caption “You sick mother f**kers! What the f**k is wrong with people?!?! Arson!!!! May you be fully prosecuted!!! What scum!!!”

The Kenneth fire, which authorities believe was manmade, sparked evacuation orders in Calabasas where her family lives, making this a very personal situation for her.

She previously posted about the fires on X, where she praised the first responders risking their lives to contain the disastrous flames.

“I can’t even comprehend what I am seeing. This doesn’t seem real. Sending my deepest most sincere gratitude to the brave firefighters, volunteers, neighbors, good Samaritans and first responders working tirelessly to protect lives and communities across California. Your dedication, courage, and selflessness in the face of such challenging conditions are truly inspiring. We are all so grateful for your hard work and sacrifices. Stay safe, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I am so so sorry for everyone who is affected in ANY way! My heart aches watching this,” she wrote.
