Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) continued his improbable run as the lone Democrat in the chamber with common sense, announcing that he’s accepted an invitation from President-elect Donald Trump to meet at Mar-a-Lago.
Fetterman’s rationale for the meeting is straightforward; he views it as a reasonable conversation with the soon-to-be president. And, as he points out, his constituency doesn’t consist exclusively of Democrats.
“That is the plan. Yes, we are going to have a conversation,” Fetterman told CBS News.
“I think that one, he’s the president, or he will be officially,” Fetterman added. “And I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it.”
The Democrat senator concluded, “And no one is my gatekeeper.”
That’s quite refreshing to hear from a Democrat.
John Fetterman Going To See Trump
This move by Sen. John Fetterman has potentially set him on a collision course with his Democratic colleagues, who might see this as a betrayal or at least a significant deviation from party lines.
While some of his colleagues plan to skip Trump’s inauguration, Fetterman will break bread with the man.
The Pennsylvania Democrat’s actions reflect his history of not conforming to typical political expectations, which was evident even during his campaign, where he was known for his unique approach to politics.
Some other evidence that Fetterman has seen the light on some matters? He called out his own party just over a year ago, warning against their insistence that Americans who are concerned about the border crisis are motivated by racism.
“I hope Democrats can understand that it isn’t xenophobic to be concerned about the border. It’s a reasonable conversation, and Democrats should engage,” he said.
Fetterman recently co-sponsored the Senate’s Laken Riley Act over Senate Democrat objections. Now, he’s keeping an open mind and meeting with Biden’s successor.
Guess What Appointment He Wants?
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania also made headlines with his latest remarks about visiting Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Even beyond the visit, which is itself upsetting to his colleagues, Fetterman revealed that he would be seeking an appointment from the President-elect.
“I demand that I need to be made Pope of Greenland,” he joked.
Our @JoeKhalilTV was able to catch up with @JohnFetterman after @NewsNation confirmed he is going to Mar-a-Lago to meet with President-elect Trump.

It’s amazing how far he’s come. From “Hi … Good night everybody!” to ‘I demand to be made Pope.’
Does the Pope get to throw on a hoodie over his cassock? Is there a zucchetto on the planet that would fit Fetterman’s ample dome?
The memes resulting from the Senator’s comments circulating on social media were extraordinary.
