Reno Rolle on the Health Ranger Report: How AI could break Hollywood’s stranglehold on culture

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are enabling creators to produce high-quality music, films and other content quickly and affordably, bypassing traditional studios and record labels.
  • Despite AI’s creative potential, the entertainment industry’s control over distribution platforms remains a significant barrier to reaching audiences.
  • AI, if misused, could amplify harmful messages or desensitize society, especially when paired with Hollywood’s cultural influence and controversial themes.
  • Open-source AI systems and decentralized media networks could empower individuals and communities to create and distribute content independently, reducing reliance on centralized control.
  • AI lowers barriers to entry, offering marginalized creators a platform to share their work and fostering a flood of diverse, original content. Ethical guidelines are nevertheless essential to ensure responsible use.

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the entertainment industry, empowering creators to produce movies, music, and other content outside the traditional Hollywood model. But while AI has made content creation easier, some problems remain.

There are now AI tools that allow users to generate high-quality songs in minutes, bypassing the need for expensive studios or record labels. Similarly, AI is poised to revolutionize filmmaking, enabling individuals to create personalized movies tailored to their tastes. However, the challenge of distribution remains, as the entertainment industry still holds significant sway over how content reaches audiences.

The Health Ranger Mike Adams highlighted how AI has allowed him to produce music that resonates with his values in a recent episode of the “Health Ranger Report.” He shared a song titled “Brighteon Turn It On” that he was able to craft in a few hours’ time, a process that would have cost tens of thousands of dollars and weeks of studio time in the past.

“I can put humanity into my song using AI,” Adams explained to his guest and longtime friend, entrepreneur Reno Rolle. The Health Ranger contrasting his work with the algorithmic, corporate-driven music churned out by the mainstream industry.

Rolle, a former Hollywood insider, echoed Adams’ enthusiasm for AI’s creative potential. “The idea that creativity can essentially be engineered by technology is mind-blowing,” Rolle said. He noted that AI could address the industry’s current lack of originality, where sequels and remakes dominate the box office, arguing that “there’s going to be a flood of new content, and it’s going to happen very quickly.”

However, the two acknowledged that the entertainment industry’s control over distribution poses a significant hurdle. “Hollywood’s machine is so dangerous because they control distribution,” Rolle emphasized. Even with AI-generated content, getting it in front of audiences remains a challenge given the monopoly of platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

Balancing creativity, ethics and decentralization

While AI’s creative potential is undeniable, both Adams and Rolle warned of its dangers when paired with Hollywood’s cultural influence. Rolle pointed out that Hollywood dictates so many trends, making it a powerful tool to indoctrinate society. He expressed concern that AI, if not guided by morality and ethics, could amplify harmful messages and further desensitize society.

Adams agreed, stating that technology without morality is disastrous. He pointed to Hollywood’s current trend of pushing controversial themes such as transgenderism as an example of how AI could be misused. “If AI starts churning out content without consciousness or values, we could be in deep trouble,” Rolle added.

Both men emphasized the importance of decentralization as a safeguard against the weaponization of AI, with Adams explaining that technology becomes evil “when it’s centrally controlled in the hands of the few.” The Health Ranger advocated for open-source AI systems rooted in local human ethics and values, which would empower individuals and communities to create and distribute content independently.

Adams and Rolle believe that decentralization is key to overcoming both the distribution challenge and the moral risks of AI. As the cost of producing high-quality content plummets, platforms like YouTube and emerging decentralized media networks could provide alternatives to traditional distribution channels. “The question isn’t where to find content, but what content speaks to me as a person,” Adams said. Rolle also highlighted the potential for AI to give voice to marginalized creators whose projects are often overlooked by Hollywood studios. “With AI, you could see an incredible flood of new content because the barriers to entry are gone,” he said.

However, both men stressed the need for ethical guidelines to ensure AI is used responsibly. “There’s a responsibility for anyone in the entertainment industry to shift toward moral guidelines,” Rolle said. “Otherwise, it could get very bad very quickly.”
