New York Governor Kathy Hochul may have hit rock bottom when the state’s top Democrat incredibly touted the safety of Big Apple subways on the same day that a woman was burned to death by an illegal alien.

One Democratic Party lawmaker, Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) slammed the “tone deaf” governor over her “victory lap” on subway safety which couldn’t have been a bigger lie, as the horrifying incident when one of Joe Biden’s “newcomers” torched the female straphanger showed.

“Two hours ago, Kathy Hochul took a victory lap for making subways ‘safer.’ She congratulates herself on the same day two subway riders were stabbed in Queens (one in the face and one in the chest) and another was barbarically burned alive,” Torres wrote in a Sunday post to X, sharing the governor’s social media post.

“Has there ever been a more tone-deaf Governor in the history of New York?” Torres asked.

The heinous crime shocked America only days before Christmas with a graphic video of the burning woman’s final moments going viral on X, contradicting Hochul’s boasting about the safety of Gotham’s underground transportation system which is definitely not safe.

Making the barbaric crime even worse was the reaction from bystanders who walked by without doing anything to help the doomed woman and the perp who sat on a subway bench watching his victim burn which was described by one New York Post columnist as a “sad disconnect to humanity.”

The horrific incident was described by NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch as “one of the most depraved crimes one person could possibly commit against another human being.”

Sebastian Zapeta, a 33-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala was arrested and charged for lighting the woman on fire, as “Biden’s border bloodbath” claims another victim.

In addition to Hochul’s “tone deaf” post, she shared another video on Instagram of her riding on the subway and assuring New Yorkers that it was a safe mode of transportation to do their holiday shopping.

Torres has been highly critical of Hochul recently and last month said that “Kathy Hochul is the new Joe Biden” in a post to X.

“She may be in denial about the depth of her vulnerabilities as a Democratic nominee. A Democratic incumbent who is less popular in New York than Donald Trump is in grave danger of losing to a Republican in 2026–an outcome not seen in 30 years. Waiting until it’s too late gave us a Republican President in 2024 and could give us a Republican Governor in 2026,” Torres wrote.

“Let’s avoid repeating history and avoid sleepwalking toward impending disaster and defeat. ‘Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it,’” he added.

Politico recently reported that Torres is mulling a gubernatorial run and Hochul’s insisting that the subways are safe when they aren’t isn’t likely to be a selling factor for her reelection campaign, at least not in New York City.
