Wikipedia is under scrutiny as its budget reveals over $50 million has been allocated for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts.
Billing itself as a “free online encyclopedia,” the digital information source claims it is “created and edited by volunteers around the world and hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation.”
A closer look into the past year’s $177 million budget shows that a substantial sum was allotted to DEI policies and initiatives, a fact highlighted by the Libs of TikTok account on X where it caught the attention of Elon Musk.

“Stop donating to Wokepedia until they restore balance to their editing authority,” the tech billionaire and X owner wrote.
“Building knowledge as a service reflects the largest part of the budget in 2023−2024,” Wikipedia’s budget report noted.
“Supporting equity represents the second largest part of our programmatic work, with grants and Movement support representing the majority of the budget within the equity goal,” the Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan detailed.
The “Budget by Goal” breakdown showed the company planned to allot $31.2 million to “Equity” while another $20.5 million would go to “Safety & Inclusion.”
“Anyone can edit Wikipedia’s text, references, and images. The quality of content is more important than who contributes it,” the online information site explains, noting that content “must conform with Wikipedia’s policies, including being verifiable by published reliable sources.”
“Contributions based on personal opinions, beliefs, personal experiences, unreviewed research, libelous material, and copyright violations are not allowed and will not remain. Wikipedia’s software allows easy reversal of errors, and experienced editors watch and patrol bad edits,” it continues.
But many argue that the site has a definite lens and leans to the left – and may, in fact, be pushing the left agenda in its content.
I love that India is actually doing something about it! https://t.co/tTaryBBDSU

The $50 million investment in DEI practices further ignited criticism of the “free online encyclopedia” on social media.
Wikipedia slants every story to fit its leftist narrative. Every story is written and edited to ensure that it fits the narrative being pushed by the the liberal establishment and its very obvious. for example, look at George Floyd’s cause of death versus Laken Riley’s!

Wikipedia’s mission was to build knowledge, not to bankroll ideological crusades. Balance and objectivity must come before bureaucracy and virtue signaling. Reallocate your resources to what matters: facts and accessibility. Until then, the people’s trust dwindles

Spending $50 million on woke propaganda instead of improving the actual service? No thanks. Stop funding platforms that prioritize ideology over functionality. pic.twitter.com/2zFmQEtH9G

30% of their budget on DEI?! That’s insane. I’m amazed that they’re still operating given that level of influence from the Wokism. Imagine what value they could add to their platform by spending that on R&D instead.
