President-elect Donald Trump quashed the left’s frenzied attempts to rile him over Elon Musk’s apparent influence on the incoming administration.

Democrats have been mocking Trump about the tech billionaire and incoming co-chair of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), referring to him as “President Musk” and fearmongering about him being the one really calling the shots.

“And no, he’s not taking the presidency,” the president-elect told the crowd at Turning Point’s “America Fest” in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday.

Calling out Democrats’ previous hoaxes like the Russian collusion narrative, Trump noted the latest is that he has “ceded the presidency” to Musk.

“You know, they’re on a new kick,” he said. “All the different hoaxes. The new one is that President Trump has ceded the presidency to Elon Musk. No, no, that’s not happening.”

He went on to praise the “amazing job” done by the Tesla/SpaceX CEO to help the president-elect’s campaign, recounting how Musk “went to Pennsylvania, and he stayed — stayed up there for a month, and helped us to win that state, which we won by a lot.”

The president-elect’s son, DOnald Trump Jr. also spoke of the relationship between Musk and his father during a speech at the event.

“You see what the media is trying to do to break up the relationship that my father has with Elon. They’re trying to cause that schism to prevent these guys doing what they’re going to do best, and we cannot allow that,” he said.

The incoming president reiterated that he is not buying into the Musk narrative, telling the gathered crowd that he’s “safe” from any chance that the South-Aftican-born Musk would take over the Oval Office.

“No, he’s not gonna be president, that I can tell you,” Trump said. “And I’m safe, you know why? He can’t be, he wasn’t born in this country.”
