Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers let the world know where he stands politically in subtle fashion ahead of the Longhorns’ showdown against Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Ewers made his way to Texas’ stadium in a navy suit and red tie. On the tie was a small gold clip with the name ‘Trump’ written across it.
Wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat would have caused folks to lose their minds, but Ewers’ decision to rock the tie clip was a gentle way for him to share his political standing ahead of the biggest game of his career.
This is not the first time Ewers has shown his support for President-Elect Donald Trump.
Shortly after the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania in July, Ewers posted two photos of the President-Elect to his Instagram. One photo showed Trump holding up his fist with blood streaming from his ear and the other photo was Trump on the cover of 50 Cent’s album ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin”.
After Trump won the presidential election in November, Ewers also shared a graphic of Trump and JD Vance on his Instagram story, writing “Legendary.”
The junior signal caller led Texas to a 38-24 win over Clemson on Saturday in which he threw for 202 yards and one touchdown.
Next up for Ewers and the Longhorns is a date against Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day. The winner of that contest will take on the winner of the Ohio State – Oregon matchup.
