One of the most popular sitcoms of the 2000s is coming back for a limited time. Disney+ is bringing back Malcolm in the Middle for a four-episode run and stars Frank Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are all on board to return.
The original series focused on young genius Malcolm trying to navigate life with his quirky, difficult family. The new story will involve Malcolm and his daughter returning home for his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary party. As for the rest of the family, it’s expected Christopher Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield may reprise their roles as Reese and Francis, but Erik Per Sullivan who played Dewey has retired from acting and hasn’t participated in any of the Malcolm related reunions since 2010. Don’t expect him to come out of retirement for this.
Series creator Linwood Boomer will be writing the four episodes while the show’s producing director, Ken Kwapis, will helm all four as well. Over it’s seven season, 151 episode run, the series received a total of seven Emmys, a Peabody Award and a Grammy.
