A car drove into a crowd of people in Germany at a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg on Friday.
“This is a terrible event, particularly now in the days before Christmas,” Saxony-Anhalt Gov. Reiner Haseloff said in response to the event, according to the Associated Press.
Local officials have reportedly described what happened as a terrorist attack.
The Guardian reports that several people are injured and at least one person died.
The driver of the car has been arrested and there is an ongoing investigation into the situation.
Magdeburg has about 240,000 people living there and is west of the German capital.
