A new law in Michigan will soon ban the sale of normal eggs in supermarkets, requiring all eggs to be “cage-free” in 2025.

A 2019 law will finally take effect on December 31 requiring Michigan retailers to only buy and sell cage-free eggs.

This new law will potentially double the price of eggs in Michigan, which are already around $4 per dozen.

Michiganders right now:

It’s argued that cage-free eggs are more humane. In a statement, Michigan’s Attorney General Dana Nessel said “Consumers deserve to feel confident about the food they put on the table.”

But they don’t deserve affordable food?

Consumers have already begun replying with the cage-free egg pricing they’re seeing at the grocery store:

Leave it to Michigan Democrats and Governor Gretchen Whitmer to be more compassionate to chickens than to their own citizens who can barely afford to eat.
