Dan Crenshaw, often referred to by his critics as “Eye Patch McCain,” is facing a social media firestorm after a heated exchange with popular conservative commentator Catturd on X.

The skirmish follows accusations that Crenshaw has been lobbying for congressional pay raises, drawing ire from grassroots conservatives and internet heavyweights alike.

The controversy erupted after conservative journalist Nick Sortor accused Crenshaw of being the “mastermind” behind a push for increased pay for members of Congress.

Sortor’s post read:

“DC sources tell me that Dan Crenshaw is spearheading the effort to get a pay raise for Congress.

Last week when he was asked about his stock trading, Crenshaw whined that members of Congress haven’t had a pay raise since 2009.

Crenshaw ALMOST got his way, with a pay increase for members + benefits being included in today’s massive spending boondoggle.

Recently, Crenshaw even said “you have no way to better yourself as a Congressman” without being able to trade stocks. That’s INSANE.

THIS GUY is responsible for LOADS of the garbage we see being thrown into spending bills. All for his own benefit.

Time for Eye Patch McCain to go.”

The controversy caught the attention of Elon Musk, who chimed in with a jab at Congress: “Congress should only get a raise when the budget is balanced.”

Rather than address the accusations with decorum, Crenshaw fired back at Sortor with a profanity-laden tirade, calling Sortor a “f-king lying piece of sh-t” and “f-king incels.”

“Yeah or maybe you’re a f-king lying piece of sh-t because I’m not even on the YES list for the whip team. Never have been. But hey, whatever gets you pathetic bottom feeders your click bait. F-king incels,” Crenshaw wrote.

Enter Catturd, the online conservative voice who has previously rattled politicians like Adam Kinzinger. Catturd wasted no time:

“Yeah get it right -Dan Crenshaw is the America-last, Ukraine-first war pig who doesn’t need a raise because of all the money he makes when he miraculously became a stock expert since joining Congress,” Catturd replied.

The jab struck a nerve, prompting Crenshaw to unleash another tirade, attacking Catturd as an “anonymous coward” and touting his military service.

“Anonymous coward like “catturd” talking shit without any evidence. I’m used to it. Sorry I was guy fighting the wars that little bitches like you would never dare to,” Crenshaw wrote.

“One of us has actually served this country and continues to, while losers like you make money being trolls on social media. I live in Atascocita, just outside Houston. If you think I’m “rich,” you’re a fucking idiot. The people getting rich off politics are the “influencers” like Catturd selling their platforms to the highest bidder. Sorry to break to it yall, that’s the truth.”

Catturd didn’t let Crenshaw off the hook, systematically dismantling his claims point-by-point.

Catturd is far from the anonymous troll Crenshaw painted him as. A veteran and influential conservative voice, he has appeared on major platforms like Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Catturd has become a significant presence on social media, attracting a large following for his critiques of “woke liberals” and his takes on current events. His interactions with high-profile figures, including Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump, have only amplified his influence.

In 2022, Catturd posted this meme on the war in Ukraine, adding, “It’s dumb that I’m laughing way too hard at this.”

The tweet triggered outgoing Congressman Adam Kinzinger – who then threatened violence against the online cartoon cat.

Adam Kinzinger: Literal evil. If I met you in person it would not end well… for you. Sicko. Trolls who have never done a thing in their life pretend to be patriots and laugh at real warriors.

That was quite the overreaction to an online meme.

Catturd did not let this go unnoticed.

Catturd responded: Sitting congressman threatens violence against a U.S. citizen over laughing at a meme they found funny. I can’t stop laughing at this infant.
