Popular New York Post columnist Miranda Devine has called for President Joe Biden to pardon his son Hunter’s former business associate, Devon Archer.
Unlike Hunter, Archer is cooperating with Congress and telling uncomfortable truths about the shady Biden family.
Still, Devine points out that if a child of immense privilege like Hunter deserves a pardon, so then does “a self-made man from humble beginnings” like Archer.
“Archer was not a son of privilege,” Devine explained for the Post. “He grew up the son of a Vietnam vet-turned-Realtor and a teacher.”
“A talented lacrosse player, he worked hard to get into Yale where he met Chris Heinz, the scion of the ketchup family, and ex-boyfriend of Gwyneth Paltrow. They co-founded private equity firm Rosemont Capital and were riding high when fellow Yalie Hunter joined,” she added.
Archer now admits that it was a big mistake to hire Hunter.
“I thought it was the most genius move ever but it ended up being absolute kryptonite,” he told Devine.
Indeed, years later in 2018, a bank investigator raised concerns about the “erratic” activity in Hunter’s own account.
In an internal email, the bank investigator identified Hunter as a “politically exposed Person” (PEP) — an acronym for someone who’s at high risk of falling prey to bribery and corruption — and asked why Hunter was receiving “millions in fees” when “it does not appear” any legitimate “services” were “rendered.”

This flagging by the bank investigator eventually led to an FBI investigation that, according to Divine, ultimately “ensnared Archer and others over the collapsed firm Burnham Asset Management.”
“Despite being vice chairman, Hunter was not even called to testify, while Archer lost everything and has spent eight years in legal limbo,” Devine noted. “Judge Ronnie Abrams declared an ‘unwavering concern that Archer is innocent’ when she overturned his conviction in 2018 before it was reinstated on appeal. In May 2024, Abrams quashed his sentence over a guidelines error, and he is due to be resentenced next year.”
In the meantime, he’s reportedly testified to Congress, granting them critical evidence concerning Hunter’s shady business dealings.
“I’ve lost eight years of my life,” Archer told Devine. “The fact that Hunter has been able to wipe the slate clean seems very unjust.”

The only good news is that his experience in the criminal justice system has brought him closer to his wife and kids.
“It’s been a really healthy filter on who your real friends are [and] the importance of family,” Archer explained. “It’s given me a deep understanding of how much I love my wife and what a special person she is that sometimes you can lose your focus on in the hustle and bustle of [a busy] career.”
Of course, the chance of Biden pardoning Archer is practically zero, especially since he provided testimony to the House Oversight Committee in July of 2023 that implicated the president himself in Hunter’s shady business dealings.
“Among the pieces of evidence Archer provided lawmakers was his awareness of the elder Biden being on speakerphone for about 20 of Hunter’s foreign business meetings,” according to the Post.

Regarding Archer’s upcoming resentencing, his attorney Matthew Schwartz has argued in a filing that he deserves leniency because he’s performed “substantial civic duties” through his “extensive cooperation with federal investigators” in the Biden investigation.
“The Court should consider, in any resentencing, Mr. Archer’s changed circumstances and continued and good-faith participation with various governmental investigations, as well as his continued commitment to charitable and educational causes, and of course his flawless record on pretrial release over the course of nearly eight years,” the filing reads.
