A Disney property has decided to back out of committing to gender ideology for its new series “Win or Lose” marking “Another Florida W.”

Earlier in the year, Disney’s Pixar readied the release of their first-ever animated series about a co-ed softball team’s week leading up to their championship game. While the box office success of “Inside Out 2” was reportedly responsible for a premiere date swap to February, the House of Mouse confirmed this week that a story arc regarding one character’s transgenderism has been excised from the final cut.

In a statement detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, a Disney spokesperson said, “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”

Reacting to news that quickly went viral Tuesday, Florida’s Voice founder Brendon Leslie sought to credit the firm stance that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican-led legislature took in enacting and standing firm on the Parental Rights in Education Act in 2022.

“Another Florida W — Governor DeSantis and our state legislature were the only ones standing against Disney while the rest of the world complained,” wrote Leslie in sharing one report of the removed storyline.

As Disney involved itself in the politics of the Sunshine State, advancing the narrative of the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” legislation that made sure curricula were age-appropriate, DeSantis won a subsequent fight to end Disney’s self-governed jurisdiction in the Reedy Creek Improvement District, now under the jurisdiction of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

From “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and “Agatha All Along” to “Lightyear” and “Stranger World,” Disney’s insistence on including content appealing to those who fly the rainbow standard was marked by sizable impacts to their bottom line, noted by the Reporter as certain international markets have restrictions on such content.

Of course, while the decision to remove the storyline from “Win or Lose” has been made, according to some reports the storyline involved a male character using the girls’ restroom, getting upset by his father calling him son, and then having the coach stepping in to talk about it, the details behind its inclusion remain, including the deliberate casting call detailed in a report from Deadline.

“Pixar was looking for an authentic, 14-year-old transgender girl to voice a transgender teenager in a new animated series,” back in 2020 when Chanel Stewart was cast.

The actor told the outlet, “I was exactly what they wanted to a T, and that’s why it felt so right. It felt just so right. I immediately asked my mom if I could do it because I just felt like if I don’t do this, it wouldn’t make sense. You know what I mean?”

Stewart was notified Monday that the character would remain, but the gender ideology would be removed from the story, “I was very disheartened. From the moment I got the script, I was excited to share my journey to help empower other trans youth. I knew this would be a very important conversation. Trans stories matter, and they deserve to be heard.”

It remains unknown what other content is being retained in the series set to stream on Disney+, but an early trailer appeared to include at least one depiction of a homosexual couple. Still, the reported removal of the gender ideology was received as a sign of the tide turning in the culture war.
