I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this does not bode well for the future of our country:
Was the killing of UNH CEO Acceptable? – Age 18-29
Acceptable – 41%
Not acceptable – 40%
Those numbers are, sadly, what the Emerson College poll shows:
While 68% of voters overall reject the killer’s actions, younger voters and Democrats are more split — 41% of voters aged 18-29 find the killer’s actions acceptable (24% somewhat acceptable and 17% completely acceptable), while 40% find them unacceptable; 22% of Democrats find them acceptable, while 59% find them unacceptable, this compares to 12% of Republicans and 16% of independents who find the actions acceptable, underscoring shifting societal attitudes among the youngest electorate and within party lines.
Just to be clear, that’s nearly half of all young voters expressing the belief that shooting a healthcare executive in the back of the head is okay because you’re, I don’t know, upset about insurance policies or something.
Beyond the shocking total figure, nearly 20% — almost one in five people — believed the murder was “completely” acceptable.
Men were slightly more inclined to find the actions acceptable compared to women: 19% said the actions were acceptable compared to 14% of women.
Note that this follows an alarming and disgraceful showing by the media, which could barely contain its own glee over the murder:
And repulsive stunts like this one:
Disgusting stuff like this is why I’m never giving up my guns. Just FYI.
