A smiling Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg played flight attendant Friday on his delayed flight, seemingly unfazed by the drone hysteria gripping the eastern United States.
Buttigieg, who will be out of office in a matter of weeks and unemployed, was jetting to his new home state of Michigan while drones and unidentified flying objects affect the nation.

The United website indicates Flight 4400 from Chicago to Traverse City, Michigan was delayed 1 hour and 24 minutes on Saturday afternoon. It arrived just 1 hour and 2 minutes behind schedule. Buttigieg moved to northern Michigan from South Bend, Indiana in 2022 and there is speculation he will run for governor in 2026.
Meanwhile, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker told the Associated Press “he was frustrated by the lack of transparency,” from the Biden administration, “saying it could help spread fear and misinformation.”
“We should know what’s going on over our skies,” he said.

“We should be doing some very urgent intelligence analysis and take them out of the skies, especially if they’re flying over airports or military bases,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said Thursday, according to the AP. He, too, demanded more transparency from the Biden admin.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy wrote a letter to Biden, asking what more his administration was going to do.
“This leaves action surrounding the (drones) squarely on the shoulders of the federal government,” Murphy said. “More federal resources are needed to understand what is behind this activity.”
The runways of Stewart International Airport were shut down Friday night over concerns drones may collide with commercial aircraft.
“This has gone too far,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a Saturday statement, the New York Post reports, after unidentified objects caused a shutdown for over an hour.

The Biden Administration should give federal law enforcement support to the region “to ensure the safety of our critical infrastructure and our people,” Hochul demanded, adding she “directed the New York State Intelligence Center to actively investigate drone sightings” back in mid-November.
She also urged the state police “to coordinate with federal law enforcement to address this issue.”
Buttigieg is plotting his next political move and he has refused to rule out a bid for Michigan governor in 2026. A recent poll found he was leading a field of Democrat primary candidates with a whopping 38%. The next closest candidate was Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson at 18%.
