The murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has brought out two stark reactions, and one professor is realizing that her actions have consequences.

Many on the left have taken to celebrating the death of Thompson, accusing him of being directly responsible for the deaths of poor people by denying coverage for their medical procedures. Effectively, they believe that he had it coming and the man accused of taking his life is being lauded as some sort of hero or martyr for the oppressed. Social media is awash in such vitriol, but a University of Pennsylvania professor found out the hard way that not everyone is a socialist like her.

Julia Alekseyeva, an Assistant Professor of English and Cinema & Media Studies, recently made some of her social media accounts private after posting a celebratory TikTok that seemed to fawn over the man suspected of shooting Thompson dead in the street.

“In one TikTok, Alekseyeva, who posts under the name, ‘The Soviette,’ smiles while playing the song, ‘Do You Hear the People Sing?’ from the famous musical Les Miserables,” Fox News reported of the post. “The text on screen reads, ‘Have never been prouder to be a professor at the University of Pennsylvania,’ she wrote, replacing the ‘E’ in Pennsylvania with the number 3.”

On her own website, Alekseyeva identifies herself as “a socialist and ardent antifascist” whose work “reflects her values.”

X users were disgusted by the professor’s “values”:
