We all know that Australian clown schools are where the baddest of the bad go to hone their craft. And that is why Liliana Goodson, a 30-year-old American woman, hopped on a plane to Australia with a gold-plated pistol in her luggage.

Because if you’re going to commit international firearm offenses, you might as well do it in style.

Goodson was traveling to Australia to attend clown school (because the country itself is basically the Harvard of clowns), and claimed she brought the gun along “for protection.”

After customs at Sydney Airport found the firearm, she told officers she forgot she had the gun with her. Because who doesn’t forget about the $3,000, 24-carat, gold-plated handgun stuffed in their bag?

Here’s what the gun looked like in and outside of the x-ray machine:

Unfortunately, our clown’s excuse fell apart after authorities checked her phone and found she Googled, “Can I have a gun in my suitcase?” and even set a calendar reminder to “put gun in suitcase.”

The aspiring clown was handed a year in jail, with four months of actual time served. The court also learned she’d been dabbling in psychedelic drugs, synthetic weed, and crystal meth: All apparently prerequisites for clown school down under.
