Darcie Bell, who posts on X under the name Jerque Cousteau, took to the platform on Sunday to appeal for help finding a U-Haul truck loaded with all her possessions after it was stolen.
The twist here is that Bell was quick to appeal to the police to deliver her from the unfortunate ordeal, even though she has been a vocal Defund the Police proponent.
“Hey guys. If you see a 26 foot uhaul truck with the Arizona plate AL50003- would you let me know because it had like everything I own on it,” Bell posted on December 7.

It was stolen near Noe and Market and fun fact: @uhaul doesn’t put gps on their trucks and thieves apparently know this.

Another plot twist here is that Bell is moving from the liberal paradise of San Francisco, complaining that she can’t afford to live there anymore. She also took a shot at public schools in the area.
She wrote, “I’m like moving out of my house because I can’t afford to live here anymore, my kid just broke his femur at one of your many, underfunded SFUSD schools and there was no nurse present to help him, I had to push him to my car in a rolling office chair – lmao WTF is this city?”

Bell blasted the police for their inaction, according to the New York Post.
“I haven’t found my s—! The cops didn’t do s—! U-Haul made me file a f—ing police report!” she told The Post. “There’s cameras all over this city. They haven’t done s—! … I just want my stuff back!”

As for her previous views on police, she posted back in October, “Defunding the police is good actually. We pay them a whole lot to do less.”
Bell complained in May 2022 that cops are “always” prioritized.
“When we locked down & people had time to get angry & organize, we took to the streets to demand justice. Lots of promises to defund cops that never happened. No matter how bad this pandemic gets, they’ll never give us the ability to do that again. They’ll always prioritize cops,” she posted.
On a positive note, Bell said in another comment that she is insured. She also shared that she was going to “mute this thread for a bit,” clearly expecting to catch some flak for her next-level hypocrisy.
Going to mute this thread for a bit but I appreciate all the advice and support. I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything.

Social media users had little sympathy for Bell’s plight… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:

She could call a social worker.

The irony is outlandish. BUT maybe she will rethink her attitude towards policing.

I didn’t know of Jerky Cousteau until the UHaul incident and then seeing how a defund the police antagonist cries that the police didn’t do anything. You reap what you sow Jerky. https://t.co/WOueJ2QdoB

Anti-Cop, defund Psycho gets comeuppance. Her favorite phrase “Eat Shit”. To think it reproduced itself. Yuck. https://t.co/h8HDjvMu3X
