Gun-control zealot David Hogg confirmed on Thursday that he’s pining for a position as the vice chair of the powerful Democrat National Committee.

Word of his interest in the position first emerged last month through Politico, which reported that Hogg “is a potential candidate for vice chair; he told us he is ‘seriously considering’ a run.”

Asked about this report Thursday on CNN, Hogg confirmed that it’s legit.

“I’m considering it because I think that, one, obviously, I think we need a new generation in the DNC if this election has taught us nothing else,” he began. “I think we need an intergenerational coalition as a party.”

“The thing that I’ve realized more than anything is that we have a number of problems in the party, but I think the main one overall is that we would rather live in a comfortable delusion than an uncomfortable reality. And I think what the party needs to do is open its eyes and take its fingers out of its ears basically,”  he added.

Continuing his lengthy response, Hogg explained what he meant by “comfortable delusion.”

“I think it’s that we can just surround ourselves with people that agree with us a lot of the time in terms of the party leadership and also within the party itself and think that’s just who we need to be talking to constantly, instead of listening to people who don’t agree with us,” he said.

“Not that we inherently agree with them, but I think so much of the issue that we have as a party right now is a kind of condescending tone that we have in a number of ways where we’re seen increasingly as elitist, as out of touch. And I think there are real conversations that we need to have,” he added.

While it appears that he’s been wising up a little as he’s aged, mockery still ensued for a couple of reasons. One, he’s far too young to lead the DNC. Two, he’s wholly unequipped for the job. And three, he boasts a record of failed leadership.

See some of the mockery below:

Recall that Hogg became famous for surviving the Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in early 2018. Afterward, he leveraged the fame gained from the shooting to launch a career as a leftist gun-control activist.

Three years later in February of 2021, he set off to put Mike Lindell’s MyPillow out of business by launching his own pillow company with William LeGate, a leftist tech entrepreneur and software engineer.

“[LaGate] and I can and will run a better business and make a better product all with more happy staff than Mike the pillow guy, while creating US-based Union jobs and helping people,” he claimed at the time.

Yet only two months later, Hogg bowed out of the project, explaining in tweets that his “activism, schoolwork, and family commitments” were too much for him to also take on the new venture.

“After many discussions with William and my friends, family and mentors, I made the good faith decision to allow William to bring our vision to life without me,” he wrote on Twitter at the time.

Hogg’s announcement on Wednesday also triggered an additional reaction — hope. Many conservatives expressed feeling hope that Hogg wins the vice chair position because they’re that confident he’ll screw things up and hurt the DNC.
