Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver Jordan Addison finds himself under a legal spotlight. On Tuesday, Addison pleaded not guilty to two DUI charges.
The development stems from a summer incident where he was found passed out behind the wheel of his Rolls Royce on an L.A. highway.
Found asleep at the wheel near Los Angeles International Airport, Addison was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and having a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher.
His plea of not guilty introduces a legal battle that could have significant repercussions for the 22-year-old’s career.
If convicted, Addison faces not only legal consequences like fines, license suspension, or even jail time, but also potential sanctions from the NFL, which could sideline him for several games under their substance abuse policy.
What Jordan Addison’s Legal Problems Mean For The Vikings
Jordan Addison’s next court date is January 9, 2025, when further details of the case will unfold. Until then, Addison will continue to play with the Vikings, who are currently holding a very strong 10-2 record.
The team and its fans are undoubtedly hoping that this legal detour doesn’t derail what could be a solid season on an upward trajectory.
Addison has been a significant compliment on the field to team leader Justin Jefferson. Thus far this season, he’s recorded 36 receptions for 575 yards and 4 touchdowns.
His average yards per reception stands at 16.3, showcasing his ability to make the big play.
Lucky He Wasn’t Hurt, Or Hurt Somebody Else
According to reports, Jordan Addison was found by California Highway Patrol officers blocking traffic in his white Rolls Royce on I-105 near the airport.
That was a perilous situation. A stopped vehicle on the highway? Addison is lucky to be alive.
“I was feeling down, and [teammates] really uplifted me to come out here and just perform at a high level still,” Addison said following the arrest. “So through everything that’s going on, I’m going to put it behind me and I’m still going to perform at a high level, come out here give the fans what they pay for.”
Selected as the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of USC, Addison quickly proved his worth on the field.
In his rookie season, he managed 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning him a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
The Vikings are a half-game back as they battle the dominant Detroit Lions for first place in the NFC North. They will face Detroit in the final game of the regular season. Will Addison be available for that critical matchup?
