Are trans women ‘biologically male’? –
Yes.
The answer is complicated. –
No, it’s not.
But in Clown World everything is complicated, so let’s dive into one of the dumbest headlines I’ve ever seen pop up on this website.
Lefties will click this headline and think they’re being educated. That’s how crazy this world of ours has become.
I read the whole article so you didn’t have to, and there’s honestly not much to unpack.
Essentially, the entire piece revolves around these two sentences which could’ve easily been pulled from a science-fiction thriller.
If the hormonally induced characteristics many people consider ‘male’ and ‘female’ – such as facial hair, breast growth or the pitch of one’s voice – are largely determined by gonads, then a person can change their sex by changing gonads. Therefore, the most common surgeries for trans women at this time consisted of orchiectomies – the removal of testes.
The author essentially argues that once a transgender woman removes these gonads they’ve become a woman.
By this argument, Lance Armstrong is half woman!
I don’t want to digress too far here, so I’ll tell you that this whole article circles back to transgender Congressman-elect Sarah McBride and Rep. Nancy Mace’s fight to keep McBride out of the women’s bathroom.
The author reminds us that AOC has suggested as a solution to Mace’s problem that women may have to “drop trou” in order to enter the women’s room at the Capitol, which I’m sure would have Matt Gaetz back in Congress in no time.
Okay, I’ll let the feminists take over here.
In public comments, Mace claims she wants to keep ‘junk’ (genitals) and ‘balls’ (gonads) out of women’s restrooms. Of course, many transgender women do not possess these characteristics. If, for Nancy Mace, genitals and gonads make someone ‘biologically male,’ then not all transgender women are the threat to women’s ‘safety and dignity’ that she fears.
Essentially, if you’ve cut off your cajones the author thinks Nancy Mace will let you in the women’s room.
And now — and this is my favorite part — with all this arguing about junk in the women’s room, the Republicans are going full based.
But Mace’s Republican colleagues are pushing a stricter definition of sex. Some legislators want to rewrite federal law to declare that sex is the ‘body structures (phenotypes) that, in normal development, correspond to one or the other gamete – sperm for males and ova for females.’
…
The gamete definition of ‘sex’ will ensure that transgender women are always classified as ‘male’ no matter how much they change their bodies. Federal bills defining sex do this by declaring that a woman is someone ‘who naturally has, had, will have, or would have’ the reproductive capacity to produce eggs – something a transgender woman can never do.
I think adding something about the body’s many trillions of cells being coded either XX or XY could be included, but I think they just accidentally provided a great definition to undermine the point of their whole article.
Plain.
Simple.
Science.
Great article, Conversation!
