Donald Trump is Making America Fun Again.

After four years of dour-faced Democrats chiding us with “I’m talking” attitudes and other nonsense, Americans are ready to dance again. And the Staten Island GOP (SIGOP) took full advantage of that feeling on Friday by organizing a “Trump dance” flash mob.

It looks like the event came together rather quickly, with the SIGOP only posting about it on Wednesday. They encouraged local residents to join with politicians and personalities to burn off some Thanksgiving calories while getting their “YMCA” on.

The goal was to show their support for President-elect Trump while having some good, old-fashioned fun.

1) #StatenIsland – Join us to send a Happy Thanksgiving message to President @realDonaldTrump  by coming out for a HUUUGE post-Thanksgiving celebration at the Trump Dance Flash Mob! 🕺💃

2) Shake off your turkey dinner and show off your best moves at Midland Beach Splaza on Friday, November 29, at 1 PM. Featuring appearances by local leaders and @ScottLoBaido @JTabacco. Don’t miss this fun-filled dance event that’s sweeping the nation!

From the looks of it, the folks of Staten Island were more than happy to participate.

How much fun are they having?

Many Americans have heaved a collective sigh of relief since Trump won a return trip to the White House, and they don’t care who knows it. This may be one of Donald Trump’s greatest gifts to the country: It’s okay to reject the grinches on the left and have fun.

It’s also encouraging to note that it was the GOP that organized such a fun event. The GOP? The boring party? The party of country club snobs? The swillers of brandy and cognac? Not anymore. It’s a whole different vibe now, and it’s gratifying to see that some in the Republican Party get it.

Such is the power of Donald Trump. As RedState’s Bob Hoge reported, so great is the reach of Trump that he sent his new theme song straight back to the top of the charts.

As we’ve reported, the “Trump Dance” has taken the country—and even the world—by storm, as athletes are doing it for celebrations, supporters are spontaneously breaking into it at restaurants, and folks are posting videos of themselves boogying to social media by the thousands.

The song that inspired Trump’s dance moves is, of course, the Village People’s 1978 hit, “Y.M.C.A.” Although the song has remained popular throughout the years, often played at weddings and parties where revelers form the letters with their arms in unison to the lyrics, it is now enjoying a resurgence—and sent the catchy tune straight to the top of the charts.

The success of Friday’s flash mob is further evidence that Donald Trump made serious inroads in New York state this election year.

Donald Trump may not have won New York, but preliminary data from this week’s election suggests that his home state has shifted right: The president-elect won over 43% of the state, the most by any Republican presidential candidate since at least 1996. He also won nearly a third of all votes in NYC, improving his margins in every borough since 2020 — particularly in areas with large numbers of Asian-American and Latino voters.

On a final note, notice how the right reacts to election results? They dance, they have fun, they want everyone along for the ride. That’s a big contrast to the left, who trash cities, burn cars, and incite violence whether they win or lose. Don’t think for a minute that American voters didn’t see what the left was doing in order to be perceived as powerful and dangerous; we saw it and voted against it.
