The American people sent a message on Election Day that they have grown weary of all the dishonest propaganda being spewed by cable news networks and other media players, but that hasn’t stopped the left from doubling down on hate-filled rhetoric.

With post-election ratings at CNN in the toilet, the network featured a political commentator attacking Elon Musk this week as a racist trying to “turn America into pre-1990 South Africa.”

Musk is beginning to experience some of the media persecution President-elect Donald J. Trump has endured for 8-plus years for the crime of aligning with the nation’s soon-to-be 47th president, and CNN panelist Bakari Sellers even dragged Musk’s parents into the fray while smearing him, prompting the billionaire’s mother to call him out for his blatant “lie.”

“Oh dear, does @CNN only invite people who are willing to lie? I had to look up xenophobic, so I’ve definitely never used that word,” Maye Musk posted in response to a video clip shared online.

“I think that Elon Musk and one of the biggest fears that people have, which is being realized, is that he really wants to turn America into pre-1990 South Africa,” Sellers said. And you look at Elon Musk and, and some of the things that his own parents have said about him and kind of coming into his own right now, you see with the xenophobia or the language that he uses to hearken back to those days.”

“It makes people have these palpitations and fear. There’s nothing about Elon Musk in what he says, regardless of how much money he has, which represents what Abraham Lincoln calls the better angels of our nature,” said the former Democratic state representative from South Carolina. “And so his thumbprint is going to be on this government for the next four years.”

Taking his unfounded fearmongering to another level, Sellers said that history books “are going to write about the fact that Elon Musk took this country backwards.”

“That my father nearly died in this country in 1968, being shot by law enforcement, fighting for rights of people who look like me to be sitting in front of you today,” he continued. “And Elon Musk is working damn hard to take us backwards. The elections have consequences. So God bless you and your state down at Mar A Lago, you get four years of influence and then we have to get this country back on track.”

Maye Musk had plenty of support on social media… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on her son’s free speech platform:
