The vice president’s failed campaign continued a downward spiral as laid-off workers sought pity with their hands held out after sudden layoffs.
If it weren’t bad enough that Vice President Kamala Harris’ 10-figure White House bid had reportedly ended in debt, detractors found added evidence that the nation dodged an economic bullet with the latest from the Democratic National Committee’s staff union.
While Harris herself absconded to Hawaii for a five-day getaway before the Thanksgiving holiday, the majority of the DNC staff was let go and sought financial support from the community to cover their expenses.
In a statement on their crowdfunding page, the union detailed, “Last week, 2/3 of DNC staff was laid off with little notice and no severance. We are heartbroken to see our colleagues–who dedicated countless hours to electing Democrats up and down the ballot–depart under these circumstances, and we are furious with DNC leadership for failing to provide severance to those affected.”
“As such, we are creating a relief fund which will directly aid staff members, including single parents and workers expecting children, impacted by the recent layoffs. The funds raised will be distributed equally to any laid-off member who opts in to receive funds. We hope these funds can soften the economic blow for those impacted,” the statement continued. “We want to be clear: the funds raised from this GoFundMe are not a replacement for the severance we are still fighting for on behalf of our colleagues.”
Many of us were laid off on short notice with no severance last week. To help provide some financial relief to those affected, the DNC Staff Union has started a relief fund via GoFundMe.

As had previously been reported, staff were let go amid what the union described as “the fallout of callous and short-sighted mismanagement of senior leadership.”
Having been provided only one day’s notice and no severance, their statement contended there was no explanation on how the layoffs were decided and expressed, “These cuts go far beyond typical campaign turnover and impact employees who were previously told their positions would be retained after the election.”
A spokesperson for the DNC had a different take as a statement was provided to Fox News Digital that said in part, “Every cycle, political organizations scale up to meet the demands, and as the cycle comes to a close, it’s a tough reality of our industry that we must part with talented, hardworking staff.”
Contending the terms of the collective bargaining agreement had been met, the spokesperson added, “While the DNC has met the terms of the union agreement negotiated by the CBA, we share the entire DNC family’s frustration and continue to provide resources to all members of the team to support them in this transition.”
Meanwhile, after limited sightings following her Election Night loss to now-President-elect Donald Trump, Harris fled to the island state as the union cried out for help.
At the time of this post, the fund had raised over $16,000 toward a $25,000 goal and many reactions were pleased with what they considered an example of how the country’s economy would have looked had the vice president been the victor.
That is f’n awesome!!!!! They get to see firsthand what a Kamala presidency would have looked like!!!!

This is exactly why Democrats shouldn’t run the government.
