Greta Thunberg was nowhere to be seen. The climate doomsayer grift activist, famous for lecturing world leaders with her infamous “How Dare You!” didn’t attend COP29. The now-21-year-old wasn’t invited to Azerbaijan. Instead, Thunberg was in the Russian vassal state of Georgia at the start of the conference to do her “How Dare You!” routine.

“[Azerbaijan] is a repressive, occupying state, which has committed ethnic cleansing, and which is continuing cracking down on Azerbaijani civil society.” She charged that the Caspian Sea nation has used the summit as “a chance to greenwash their crimes and human rights abuses.”
Few people listen to Thunberg any longer. She isn’t the button-nosed 16-year-old who (by the rules) we weren’t allowed to mock. Now she’s an adult. She gets a couple of headlines and disappears to be seen later.
COP29 just wrapped up. It was the 29th meeting of the “Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).” Quite the mouthful. COP was the brainchild of a 1992 agreement (around the time that Al Gore told us Polar Bears would be extinct by COP29) and a treaty attached to the Paris Agreement.
COP29 wrapped up, with a lot of noise. Actual noise. Like a bunch of kindergarteners who didn’t get their cookies. “Developing” Nations” (Grifters) didn’t get their way so they walked out in a huff. Developed nations (Grifted) had agreed to pay billions. Not enough. How Dare You! – the Grifters want trillions.
Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that oil-rich countries and fossil fuel emitters “ripped off” the Grifters.
“We are in the midst of a geopolitical power play by a few fossil fuel states,” Baerbock said.
“We Europeans will not allow the most vulnerable states in the world, especially the small island states, to be ripped off by some of the new [rich fossil-fuel] emitters,” Baerbock added.

She feels safe saying that, because her nation is fairly insulated. Germany has practically no oil production. Germany started two world wars and imports its natural gas from Russia, but it can stomp its feet and yell, “Don’t blame us”.
The “deal” agreed to was $300 billion over 10 years. That’s when the Grifters stormed out. They wanted more. To no one’s surprise, China wasn’t counted as a “developed” country. It was “asked” to contribute, but that would be like asking the Commie tanks to leave Tiananmen Square. The Arab nations also balked and India was nowhere to be seen.
The Philippines sent Lidy Nacpil. Last year, at COP28, barely weeks after Hama’s slaughtered and raped on October 7th, she said:
…the struggle of the Palestinian people is part and parcel of our collective struggle for climate, racial, economic and political justice. We also fight for a world, where everyone has the right to live with dignity and free from oppression.
This year she was asked about how much money would shut her up. It’s a lot:
[N]ice round number of a minimum estimate is $5 trillion. These are low estimates. So we’re saying a down payment of $5 trillion is about what we need. Of course, we’re not expecting this process to come up with a $5 trillion this year.
I mean, we will be lucky to have some trillion number, but this is a fight. We intend to continue not just in this. So $5 trillion is a low benchmark that we need to put out there so that governments know what numbers we should be talking about.

Her lament reminded me of this – from a new Paramount series called Landmen.

Sure, the writers had to include “we’re gonna run out” warnings, but the world runs on oil now and for the foreseeable future. Other countries are seeing it as a grift.
Nacpil and other activists held up handmade signs in protest. The billions offered in tribute were not enough. If activists didn’t have paper, they wrote on their hands.
Yeah…“Pay Up!”… unless you’re in China, India, or the Arab countries.
