Elon Musk wasn’t alone in voicing criticism over a “Saturday Night Live” spoof of him as even Dana Carvey had an admission about a recent appearance on the “dying” program.

Having long ago left behind bipartisan blows that left entertained viewers with shots to President George W. Bush’s gaffes and President Bill Clinton’s Monica Lewinsky scandal, complete with a John Goodman-portrayed Linda Tripp, many had made note of the tired, one-sided attacks against President-elect Donald Trump and the GOP.
During Friday’s edition of the “Superfly” podcast hosted by Carvey and fellow SNL alumnus David Spade, the former knocked his own effort to bring the world’s richest man to the stage during the post-election cold open.
“I can’t do Elon Musk very well. But I can do something that sounds not like anything — he has an incredible accent,” said the award-winning comedian.
In response to Spade asking the origin of Musk’s accent, Carvey said, “South Africa via Canada, via Pennsylvania. South Africa. It’s almost like, it’s a little bit of Australian in there, a little bit of British, but he’s not totally that.”
During the skit that featured the cast pretending as though they were always supporters of Trump to play up the narrative that the GOP leader would be going after political opponents, Carvey’s Musk had bounced out on stage much like the billionaire had when he’d appeared at the second Trump Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
Musk had reacted to the comedian’s post-election appearance that included his donning a dark, gothic MAGA hat, and said, “They are so mad that @realDonaldTrump won…”

Earlier, the designated head of the proposed Department of Government Efficiency had said, “SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality. Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further.”
Further, the founder and CEO of SpaceX had also opined of the portrayal, “Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.”

In September, Musk had spoken of his own 2021 appearance on the program and how, “I was a bit worried in the beginning there because, frankly, nothing was funny.”
Amid a story that involved his own pitch for an ongoing exchange of innuendos that included a cat and a rooster, the entrepreneur had revealed the disappointment of learning the writers weren’t interested in collaborating on ideas for skits.
“So, we come in like, like just like, guns blazing with like, ideas, and we didn’t realize, like, actually, you know, that’s not how it works. And that it’s only, like, actors, and they just get told what to do and like, oh, well, you mean we can’t just, like, do funny things that we thought of?” he’d gone on to add.
While Carvey was expected to return to the sketch show in December, it was not made clear if he’d be attempting any further lampoons of Musk.
