The David Horowitz Freedom Center’s Restoration Weekend wrapped up this morning. This year, it was in Naples, Florida. Restoration Weekend is always a great event. The weekend began in the only possible way:
As you can imagine, the mood was celebratory. Speakers included Pete Hegseth, Rep. Byron Donalds, Peter St. Onge, Guy Benson, Daniel Pipes, and many more. Riley Gaines and Geert Wilders were the dinner speakers. Both were terrific.
My friends Justin Folk and Liz Collin attended, and their movies Am I Racist? and The Fall of Minneapolis were screened. Star athlete and former Congressman Jim Ryun was there, interviewed by his son Ned. That was a highlight. And Rich Little performed; I have no idea how old he is, but he is still funny. He has Joe Biden’s walk down pat. Back in 1963, when I watched Rich Little on the Ed Sullivan show, one thing I did not have on my bingo card was that 50 years later we would be friends.
After Pete Hegseth’s talk at breakfast on Friday, the weekend kicked off with my panel on the results of the 2024 election. I will post separately a written version of the talk I gave on that topic.
Restoration Weekend is one of the top conservative events on the annual calendar. David himself is no longer able to attend, but Mike Finch has taken the helm admirably. My wife and I have attended a number of Restoration Weekends, and have gotten to know a lot of the regulars who are there every year. If you haven’t thought about, I recommend that you consider attending next year.
