The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. For “balance,” the ICC also issued an arrest warrant for Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif.

The ICC says the Israeli leaders are guilty of “crimes against humanity” in connection with the war started by Gaza. The ICC is a bad joke, but sadly, there are countries that take it seriously:

Binyamin Netanyahu faces the prospect of arrest if he travels to the UK after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his detention for war crimes in Gaza.

The prime minister’s official spokesman said today that the government respected the ICC as the “primary international institution for investigating and prosecuting the most serious crimes of international concern”.

Because an arrest warrant has been issued the UK would be under a legal obligation to arrest Netanyahu should he enter UK territory.

Also Canada:

Canada has become another country to announce that it would arrest the Israeli and Hamas leaders if necessary. Justin Trudeau, the prime minister, said that Canada would abide by all rulings issued by international courts, when asked about arrest warrants announced by the International Criminal Court earlier in the day.

“It’s really important that everyone abide by international law,” Trudeau told a televised news conference.

Other countries have made similar announcements. I take it that Netanyahu will not be able to travel to Britain or Canada for the foreseeable future, if ever. Happily, the U.S. will treat the ICC’s “arrest warrant” with the contempt it deserves:

Also Argentina:

President Milei of Argentina has condemned the ICC decision because, he claimed, it ignored the right of Israel to defend itself against “the constant attacks by terrorist organisations like Hamas and Hezbollah”.

“Israel faces brutal aggression, inhumane hostage-taking and indiscriminate attacks on its population,” he said. “Criminalising the legitimate defence of a nation while ignoring these atrocities is an act that distorts the spirit of international justice.”

This disgusting incident illustrates the danger of turning the slightest shred of our sovereignty over to “international law.” The United Nations and similar international organizations have zero credibility and zero moral standing. They should be treated with contempt until their conduct justifies something better.
