ABC News came under fire for blatantly accusing President-elect Donald Trump of “campaigning” on the murder of Laken Riley and ‘tanking’ a bi-partisan border bill.

Reporting on the breaking news about illegal alien Jose Ibarra being found guilty of murdering the nursing student, ABC News reporter Ike Ejochi pointed to the remarks by the incoming president as he has repeatedly ripped into the current administration’s immigration policies.

“This death of Laken Riley and the subsequent trial has essentially been a massive political lightning rod here in this country,” he said in an ABC News report.

“The president-elect campaigning on the death of Laken Riley and pointing to the current administration, saying that their laws and what they’re calling failed policies contributed to Laken Riley’s death,” Ejochi said.

He went on to detail Ibarra’s criminal activity, including entering the US illegally and being arrested prior to attacking Riley, the correspondent claimed that there is “very little evidence indicating a connection between immigration and violent crime.”

“This is still something President-elect Trump, several Republicans on the Hill, wanted essentially to plant their flag on and point that to the current Biden administration,” he continued, accusing them of spewing “vitriol” against Biden’s policies and claiming Trump “tanked” a so-called bipartisan border bill.”

The Trump War Room account on X blasted the network and its “Fake News hack” for the slanted presentation of the breaking news.

“Minutes after the illegal scum who killed Laken Riley was sentenced, Fake News hack @IkeEjiochi was on ABC blaming President Trump,” the post read.

“This isn’t a ‘political lightning rod’ — it’s a TRAGEDY that ONLY happened because Biden-Harris LET this animal roam our country,” the post stated.

On Wednesday, Ibarra was found guilty on all counts and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

Trump hoped the verdict would bring “peace and closure” to the family.

“JUSTICE FOR LAKEN RILEY! The Illegal who killed our beloved Laken Riley was just found GUILTY on all counts for his horrific crimes. Although the pain and heartbreak will last forever, hopefully this can help bring some peace and closure to her wonderful family who fought for Justice, and to ensure that other families don’t have to go through what they have,” he posted on Truth Social. “We love you, Laken, and our hearts will always be with you. It is time to secure our Border, and remove these criminals and thugs from our Country, so nothing like this can happen again!”

Social media users joined the Trump team in blasting Ejochi’s biased reporting.
