Is the world careening toward World War III, or is the green light to Ukraine from the Biden Administration to use US weapons to strike deeper into Russia simply political maneuvering that presents no threat of nuclear escalation?

The US also approved the use of land mines in Ukraine for the first time.

A Chinese cargo ship has been boarded by the Danish Navy after it is suspected to have cut two vital communications cables in the Baltic.

The war in the Middle East continues, and Israel is now taking damage from rockets in its territory.

In the midst of all the chaos and increasing threats, Biden and Harris are absent. The president was wandering around the Amazon rainforest, avoiding reporters, and Kamala Harris flew off for a vacation to Hawaii.

Even The Washington Post is beginning to notice that Biden is, at the very least, absent from his duties as president and avoiding doing anything but standing with world leaders–when he shows up–and keeping his mouth shut.

For a short speech in front of about two dozen people, the journalists were initially instructed to watch Biden on a flat-screen television placed amid sand and lush trees as the president spoke about 50 feet away, though they were eventually moved closer. As Biden finished his remarks, maracas rattled by a local group prevented him from hearing reporters’ shouted questions about Ukraine.

During a six-day foreign trip to Peru and Brazil that wrapped up Monday, the president rarely spoke in public, answering almost no questions despite repeated efforts to engage him. One television producer took to writing messages on a large pad of paper, holding it up as Biden boarded and departed Air Force One.

“Xi?” one said, a silent request that Biden discuss his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. “Ukraine???” read another, amid reports the president had authorized the firing of long-range U.S. weapons into Russia.

The Post’s complaint is that Biden is hiding from the media, but the unspoken subtext is that the lights are on but nobody is home.

On Monday, Biden raised eyebrows when he — along with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni — missed a group photo of the assembled leaders. Biden had not managed to make it on time, and the other leaders did not bother waiting.

A White House official attributed his absence to “logistical issues,” saying the photo was taken early. Brazilian Minister of Communications Paulo Pimenta on Wednesday suggested that Biden was simply late.

“Brazil is like this,” he said, adding a Portuguese expression about punctuality: “When it’s time, it’s time.”

World leaders obviously know that Biden is not running things and is just a figurehead, but the scary thing is that nobody quite knows for whom he is playing that role. It’s sure not Kamala Harris, we know that. Perhaps it is the Obama machine, but likely what we are seeing out in the open is that the government is run by the blob, which is another way of saying the American wing of the transnational elite.

Big–huge–decisions are being made without anyone being responsible for them. Who decided our shift in Ukraine policy?

God knows. Anthony Blinken? People we don’t know in the three-letter agencies?

This is exactly the model of governance loved by the technocrats. Nameless, faceless bureaucrats and political appointees make the decisions to execute the policies, and elected officials are just figureheads installed by a political machine. It’s not a coincidence that they picked Joe Biden, whose mind was failing, to be president and then chose the most vapid politician in the world, Kamala Harris, to succeed him.

They wanted puppets, and in Biden they got one. Biden may have been the king, but the blob were the regents.

In the waning days of this administration, the blob isn’t even pretending. They have much to do and little time to do it now that Trump is coming to town. Biden and Harris will enjoy their magisterial but irrelevant positions as the blob does its will and plants land mines for Trump to avoid.

January 20th can’t come soon enough.
