A stabbing spree on a college campus in China left eight people dead and 17 injured, authorities said on Saturday.

Police said that the attack occurred at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in the city of Yixing. The suspect has been arrested.

The suspect is a 21-year-old former student who was going to graduate this year, but failed his exams.

“He returned to the school to express his anger and commit these murders,” authorities said, according to the New York Post.

The attacker also reportedly expressed anger over how much he was getting paid during an internship.

This isn’t the first mass attack in China this month.

Last week, a man drove through a crowd of people at a sports complex in southern China killing 35 and injuring 43 others because he was upset about his recent divorce settlement, reported The Associated Press
