CNN’s Ana Navarro decried how “incredibly embarrassing” it was for former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley to endorse Donald Trump only to have the incoming president deny her a role in his new administration.
Navarro was speaking on CNN’s “AC360” on Monday after President-Elect Donald Trump announced over the weekend that the former South Carolina governor and ex-GOP presidential candidate would not be joining in as he steps into his second term in January.

“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country.”
Haley, who repeatedly criticized Trump before finally endorsing him after ending her own campaign, responded with a message of her own.
“I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years,” she wrote.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked guest Gretchen Carlson about Trump’s announcement during his show Monday.
“Look, that was quintessential Trump putting that post out,” she responded.
“It made it seem like Mike Pompeo and Nikki Haley had asked for a position in the administration. Maybe. Probably not. Nikki Haley’s gonna run for president again in 2028. I believe that’s why she was forced to endorse Trump, because she needs his MAGA base if she wants to have a future political career, and not surprised at all. Neither of them needs–” she continued before Navarro interrupted.
“Ok, Gretchen, Gretchen, Gretchen, Gretchen,” Navarro, who was billed as a “Republican strategist,” said. “She was not forced to do anything. She’s a grown ass woman who chose to do this for her political ambitions.”
“That’s right,” Carlson agreed. “For her political ambition.”
“Kamala Harris lost an election,” Navarro continued.
“Nikki Haley has lost every modicum of dignity because, after first criticizing him, then she took it back, then she ran against him, then she endorsed him, then she practically begged him to let her campaign with him,” she said. “And now, he’s saying, ‘Bye, Felicia.’ It truly is, I find it incredibly embarrassing – a woman who had such a bright future, was one of the rising stars in the Republican Party.”
“But I think what Trump was making evident through that tweet [sic] is that he wants loyalty, 100% loyalty from everyone that he appoints, ” she added, as if it were a bad thing or that other presidents have not done the same .”He wants MAGA people, not neocons, not people who are considered foreign policy hawks.”
Meanwhile, Pompeo responded to Trump’s announcement with a message and video on X.
“Mr. President – I was proud to work with you too. As you said, when we were together last week, you and I built the plan that made the world safer & led to no new wars,” the former secretary of state wrote.
