President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday said that in order to unify the country, Republicans should help Democrats cover campaign costs.

“I am very surprised that the Democrats, who fought a hard and valiant fight in the 2020 Presidential Election, raising a record amount of money, didn’t have lots of $’s left over,” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social.

According to reports, the Democratic Party spent $1 billion to get Vice President Kamala Harris in office, almost twice as much as the Trump campaign spent.

The Daily Mail reports that President Joe Biden’s team and Harris’ people are blaming each other for how the money was handled.

Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election earlier this week, winning the electoral college and the popular vote.

“Whatever we can do to help them during this difficult period, I would strongly recommend we, as a Party and for the sake of desperately needed UNITY, do,” Trump’s TRUTH Social post continued. “We have a lot of money left over in that our biggest asset in the campaign was ‘Earned Media,’ and that doesn’t cost very much. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

He added that Democrats are being “squeezed by vendors and others.”
