Optimism returned to Los Angeles as the ousting of District Attorney George Gascón found deputy DAs celebrating the end of a “perverted social experiment.”
“Crime is illegal again.”
Vice President Kamala Harris wasn’t the only former San Francisco DA to get kicked to the curb Tuesday as voters in LA County selected former U.S. Assistant Attorney General Nathan Hochman to replace the George Soros-backed prosecutor.
Sharing in the positive sentiment of voters were a number of Gascón’s deputies who had leveled retaliation charges against their boss throughout his tenure.
Having recently filed a complaint against the DA that detailed an armed officer had been dispatched to deliver her notice of a violation of the office’s media policy prior to a denied promotion, Deputy DA Tatiana Chahoian told Fox News Digital, “Gascón’s reign of terror over LA extended far beyond the prosecutors in his office.”
“Not only did LA County residents kick him out, they simultaneously passed Prop 36, increasing penalties for certain crimes. They made their voices heard loud and clear — they’ve had enough,” she explained of a voter-backed call to return to law and order. “He’s permanently damaged careers, forced early retirements and ruined the morale and culture of the office. That’s going to take a long time to repair. Culture doesn’t change overnight.”
Among those who said they’d been demoted in retaliation for criticism of Gascón, Deputy DA Jason Lustig said to the outlet, “After four years of being test subjects in a perverted social experiment, LA County residents have clearly learned the hard way that their vote for district attorney matters more than any other decision on their ballots.”
He went on, “I am confident that Nathan Hochman will restore balance, fairness and organization to an institution that I and hundreds of my colleagues have dedicated our professional lives to.”

“Crime is illegal again,” cheered Deputy DA Shea Sanna, who’d brought a retaliation complaint against his boss through the Dhillow Law Group Inc., which asserted their client had “incurred [superiors] wrath” over “efforts to uphold his legal and ethical duties despite significant opposition from DA Gascón and his administration.”
“We have a new DA that will focus on fighting crime instead of fighting his own prosecutors,” Sanna told Fox News Digital. “Hochman’s focus will be protecting law-abiding citizens, not murderers and rapists.”
Similarly, Deputy DA Jonathan Hatami, often critical of the leniency Gascón had shown toward violent criminals like James “Hannah” Tubbs, the adult male who’d been sentenced to two years in a girls’ juvenile detention facility, expressed to the outlet, “It’s time for district attorneys to go back to the job they were elected to do — follow and enforce the laws, prosecute crime, support victims and do the right thing regardless of political affiliation.”
“Gascón losing, really getting demolished, had absolutely nothing to do with politics. It had everything to do with the fact that he refused to actually do the job of the district attorney,” he argued. “For Angelenos, this wasn’t a national issue. It was a personal one. We all deserve public safety — especially from our DA.”
“Gascón — your reign over LA is finally over,” added Hatami. “Please don’t ever run for public office again.”
