King County (Seattle) Executive Dow Constantine seems to be having a great week so far.

I assume he casted a vote for Kamala Harris on Tuesday, found out late Tuesday night that Trump would win in a landslide, and then sent out this message to his King County employees on Wednesday.

I gotta quote this in full, because it’s absolutely gorgeous (emphasis added in that last paragraph):

Dear fellow King County employee,

With the result of yesterday’s presidential election now clear, many of us are feeling anxious about the future of our democracy, our nation, and our world.

It is clear we remain deeply divided as a country. The tenor of this campaign has only worsened these divisions, with othering used as a weapon to pull us further apart.

At times like this, it may seem that our differences can never be bridged. Yet I know that our values and principles remain deeply embedded in our county, region, and state – and these bind us together.

King County will remain a welcoming place for all, where every person has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of birthplace or background. We are a place that is welcoming, that is inclusive, that is respectful. We are a place that values all employees and community members, regardless of race, gender, age, ethnicity, immigration status, sexual orientation, disability, or religious affiliation.

In King County, we recognize science, data, and facts. We cherish the natural environment and fight to protect it. We are a place that wants everyone to thrive and succeed, no matter who you are or where you began your life.

We cannot make ourselves immune from what happens nationally – nor should we. It is incumbent upon us to remain focused on what is important to us, making sure our Northwest values continue to shape this next chapter of our nation’s history. We must continue to offer a shining example of a welcoming, innovative, and visionary government that believes in and supports democracy.

As we enter this new chapter, we remain committed to setting that same example and delivering for our residents. Your work is what will make that possible.

I know this is a stressful time for many. Remember that there are always people you can reach out to for emotional support. If you need to speak with someone, take the time to reach out to family members, friends, or colleagues. Our Employee Resource/Affinity Groups are a safe place for you to talk to people with shared interests, issues, and backgrounds. King County provides two services to employees that offer professional support and advice: the Employee Assistance Program and Making Life Easier (username: King County). Both resources are free and confidential.

Dow Constantine (he/him/his)

King County Executive

This is the county executive of the most populous county in Washington.

And he/him/his is offering safe spaces to his county employees in case they’re triggered that someone they don’t like won the presidential election.

This is what the Left is like when they lose, and it’s only just begun. Just wait until the grieving is over. God only knows what they’ll come up with this time.
