Liberal tears turned into angry outrage in New York City where the iconic Empire State Building triggered supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris.

As voters lamented the poor showing of the Democrat nominee in blue strongholds, the 102-story skyscraper triggered New Yorkers who blasted the decision to turn it red after GOP nominee Donald Trump won the state of North Carolina. It happened again when Trump pulled a victory in Georgia.

“The Associated Press has called North Carolina for @realDonaldTrump,” the official X account for the building read at 11:22 p.m. EST. “We will be sparkling red for the next 5 minutes.”

A few hours later, at 1 a.m. EST, the tourist destination sparkled red again when Georgia was called for Trump.

Earlier in the day, the X account had explained the building’s indirect participation in Election Day as it explained lighting.

“Tonight, in honor of Election Day, we will be shining in red, white, and blue,” the post read, explaining the individual color displays to come. “When one of the candidates reaches 270 electoral votes, we will shine in their color for the rest of the evening.”

As Trump’s momentum grew over the electoral map, the red sparkling light emanating from the Empire State Building set off a wave of negative reaction from the left.

“The Vice President won just 67.8 percent of the vote in all five boroughs – the worst result for a Democrat in the Big Apple since 1988,” the Daily Mail reported of Democrat Kamala Harris’s results in the blue city.

“Joe Biden won New York City with 76 percent of the vote in 2020 and Hillary Clinton – who served the city in the Senate – won it with 79 percent in 2016,” the outlet added. “Harris’ disappointing numbers in NYC were the worst since Michael Dukakis garnered 66.17 percent of the vote versus George H.W. Bush’s 32.82 percent.”

Many X users were thrilled with the beacon of sparkling red displayed on the skyscraper.
